— Description of forming Korea |
Korea is a formable consisting of North Korea and
South Korea located in northeast Asia
, It can be formed when the Korean peninsula is conquered by either the Northern part or the Southern part.
Background

During the first half of the 1st millennium, Korea was divided between the three competing states of Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, together known as the Three Kingdoms of Korea. In the second half of the 1st millennium, Silla defeated and conquered Baekje and Goguryeo, leading to the "Unified Silla" period. Meanwhile, Balhae formed in the north, superseding former Goguryeo. Unified Silla eventually collapsed into three separate states due to civil war, ushering in the Later Three Kingdoms. Toward the end of the 1st millennium, Goguryeo was resurrected as Goryeo, which defeated the two other states and unified the Korean Peninsula as a single sovereign state. Around the same time, Balhae collapsed and its last crown prince fled south to Goryeo. Goryeo (also spelled as Koryŏ), whose name developed into the modern exonym "Korea", was a highly cultured state that created the world's first metal movable type in 1234. However, multiple incursions by the Mongol Empire during the 13th century greatly weakened the nation, which eventually agreed to become a vassal state after decades of fighting. Following military resistance under King Gongmin that ended Mongol political influence in Goryeo, severe political strife followed, and Goryeo eventually fell to a coup led by General Yi Seong-gye, who established Joseon in 17 July 1392. The first 200 years of the Joseon era were marked by relative peace. During this period, the Korean alphabet was created by Sejong the Great in the 15th century and there was increasing influence of Confucianism. During the later part of the dynasty, Korea's isolationist policy earned it the Western nickname of the "Hermit Kingdom". By the late 19th century, the country became the object of imperial design by the Empire of Japan. After the First Sino-Japanese War, despite the Korean Empire's effort to modernize, the country was annexed by Japan in 1910 and ruled by it until the end of World War II in August 1945. In 1945, the Soviet Union and the United States agreed on the surrender of Japanese forces in Korea in the aftermath of World War II, leaving Korea partitioned along the 38th parallel. The North was under Soviet occupation and the South under U.S. occupation. These circumstances became the basis for the division of Korea by the two superpowers with two different ideologies, exacerbated by their inability to agree on the terms of Korean independence. The Communist-inspired government in the North received backing from the Soviet Union in opposition to the pro-Western government in the South, leading to Korea's division into two political entities in 1948: North Korea, and South Korea. Tensions between the two resulted in the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950. With involvement by foreign troops, the war ended in a stalemate in 1953, but without a formalized peace treaty. This status contributes to the high tensions that continue to divide the peninsula. Both governments of the two Koreas continue to claim to be the sole legitimate government of this region. |
Base Statistics
Economy
Depending on the Ideology (Due to South Korea being a Non aligned country and
North Korea being Communist), you might make $1.652.637 or less.
Military
Depending on your Ideology, Korea has a manpower gain of either 2.907 or 6.181 and a maximum manpower capacity of 845.864, which is possibly good for defending against Japan if the player is not experienced.
Resources
Korea doesn't produce many minerals for factories, because of that, you'll need to rely on trades or wars to get important materials such as Phosphate,
Titanium and/or
Tungsten.
A list of the resources Korea produces is below:
Geography
Terrain
Except for the tile that contains the North Korean cities of Musan and Sonbong, all the western coastal tiles are Hilly. The rest of Korea including the aforementioned cities are flat.
Biome
Korea has no permanent biome. However, it experiences Mild Winter during December-January.
Borders
Korea has territorial borders with:
Russia (Specifically the
Far Eastern Republic).
China (Specifically
Manchuria).
And a maritime border with:
Population
The total population of Korea is 42,293,224 people with the majority being from the south. Its city count is 53 with the largest being Seoul, The capital of South Korea.
Strategy
Play as North Korea or
South Korea. South Korea is easier because it starts with 180k home guard, but it can still be done as North Korea. First, justify on North Korea or South Korea, depending on what nation your playing. If you are North Korea, build your infantry until you have at least 150k of them and 1 submarine. After you have done this, declare and invade South Korea using the AI luring taking Jeju island underneath the peninsula, their troops will embark to the island to recapture it. Your submarine will destroy their troops in the sea if placed in the transport ship's path. If you are South Korea, simply declare on on North Korea, use the AI luring tactic and invade them. This shouldn't be difficult with your 180k troops. After this is done, you can form
Korea!
You should also ally China and/or
Japan too.
If Japan declares war on one or all Korean states:
You should ally China to help you against
Japan, as they are much more powerful economically and in resources than
South Korea. You should also increase your army, build tanks and build a decent navy, able to counter the Japanese one. Consider getting a general (and hope he's called Yi-sun Sin) to increase your chance of winning a naval battle. Researching is also handy.
If China declares war on one or all Korean states:
This is an extremely dangerous situation, as China is the number 2° superpower and has the most starting manpower. Do all of the above, but don't go into debt. Consider going fascist for the insane buffs, as communism is not really good if you only make 2 iron units. Next you should garner support. You need to ally preferably 2 of the following: Japan,
India,
Russia. If none of these accept or neither you or your allies seek land from
China, a good
Taiwan player could be an interesting ally to distract the Chinese.
Threats
China expanding into the Korean Peninsula. (COMMON)
- As South Korea,
North Korea could push back and form
Korea or even
Goguryeo by itself. (UNCOMMON/RARE)
- As North Korea,
South Korea could push back and form
Korea by itself, due to the initially larger manpower pool. (COMMON/UNCOMMON)
Japan wanting to form the
Empire of Japan or just invading the Korean Peninsula. (COMMON)
Mongolia wanting to form
Yuan Dynasty and/or the
Mongol Empire. (EXTREMELY RARE)
Shanxi if it gets released or declares independence may invade
North Korea for the
Xin Dynasty. (RARE)
Russia may invade the Korean Peninsula as a forwarding base for future expansion in Asia. (UNCOMMON)
Taiwan may also have the same reasons as Russia, they could use Korean Peninsula to have a boost in manpower and economy and launch an attack on China into
Manchuria and quickly reach China's capital. (RARE)
Trivia
- The original formable was called "United Korea", but was changed to just "Korea" on May 8th, 2019.
