In-Battle Effect

If the holder's HP reaches ¼, the Iapapa Berry is consumed. The Pokémon's health is increased by ⅓ of its maximum HP, but it will also be confused if it dislikes the sour flavor.

If flung, the target's health is increased by ⅓ of its maximum HP, but it will be confused if it dislikes the sour flavor.

Before Generation VII, it is activated when the holder's HP reaches ½, and it restores the Pokémon's HP by ⅛. In Generation VII only, it is activated when the holder's HP reaches ¼, and it restores the Pokémon's HP by ½.

The Iapapa Berry is based on the papaya, which it also gets its name from. It holding lots of water inside of it may reference how the pulp of papaya fruits is largely made up of water.
