Anime, manga, and Trading Card Game information

The Dive Ball (Japanese: ダイブボール, HepburnDive Ball) is an item introduced in Generation III.

Effect

The Dive Ball is a type of Poké Ball. In Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version and Pokémon Emerald Version, Dive Balls are specially designed to capture wild Pokémon in underwater areas, and has an increased catch rate of 3.5x if used on a Pokémon there. In Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, Dive Balls functions identically to regular Poké Balls since there are no underwater areas.

Since the Generation IV games, the Dive Ball was also made 3.5x more effective on Pokémon encountered while surfing or fishing, which is because there are no underwater areas in the Sinnoh region.

Description

The entire ball is various shades blue except for the black horizontal band around the middle, and a white "cap" on the top of the ball in which the blue forms a gentle "wave" pattern around.
