Mwevi is a male baboon. He is a member of Uroho's troop.
Mwevi and his companions, Mwizi and Uroho, brought their traveling company to the Pride Lands, where they used it as a front to steal food. Eventually, the Lion Guard caught them in the act and so drove them into the Outlands. However, when the baboons got attacked by hyenas, the Lion Guard showed up and saved their lives. As repayment for the Lion Guard's kindness, the baboons returned all the food they had stolen.
Biography
Early life
Mwevi lived in a territory outside the Pride Lands. At some point in his life, he befriended fellow baboons Mwizi and Uroho, with whom he formed a traveling performing company.[1]
Traveling Baboon Show
While patrolling the Pride Lands, the Lion Guard noticed several animals taking off in the same direction. They followed the commotion to where a large group of Pride Landers had gathered beneath a tree. Mbeya the rhinoceros explained that the animals had gathered to see a troop of performing baboons.
Just then, Mwevi and Mwizi leaped out of the tree and began performing impressive tricks for their spectators. Uroho soon joined them and formally introduced his troop as the "Traveling Baboon Show." The group then bragged about their amazing feats and talents.
After the show, the Lion Guard returned to their patrol. Along the way, they heard Ma Tembo crying for help, and they followed her voice to where a tree had been completely stripped of its flowers and leaves. Ma Tembo declared that there was a food thief in the Pride Lands, and the Lion Guard resolved to find the thief and restore order to the Pride Lands.
Just then, the Lion Guard heard the Traveling Baboon Show making a clamor in the distance and decided to watch the show in order to see if the thief was in attendance. While the other Lion Guard members gathered around the show, Ono patrolled from the air and caught Mwevi and Mwizi stealing food from a tree while Uroho continued to run the show. The baboons realized that they had been caught and returned to Uroho.
Ono attempted to tell Kion what he had discovered, but the baboons grabbed him from the audience and began tossing him back and forth, effectively cutting off his report. Eventually, Ono was able to wrest himself free from the grip of the baboons and declared to the rest of the Lion Guard that the troop was guilty of theft. Kion commanded Beshte to shake the troop's tree, which revealed the mounds of fruit and leaves that the baboons had been stealing.
In the face of their guilt, the troop fled, and the Lion Guard chased them across the Pride Lands. In the midst of the chase, the baboons scared a herd of antelope into scattering, and two of the antelope fell into a nearby river. The Lion Guard halted their chase in order to save the antelope, and the baboons managed to escape into the Outlands.
In the Outlands, Cheezi and Chungu were complaining about how hungry they were when they heard Uroho's troop playing music in the distance. They followed the sound to where Uroho was putting on a show for a meager audience of Outlanders. In the meantime, Mwevi and Mwizi attempted to steal food from a volcano but were cut short by Janja, who began to chase them.
Back in the Pride Lands, the Lion Guard reflected on the Traveling Baboon Show and how the baboons had turned out to be thieves. In the midst of the conversation, Ono spotted Mwevi and Mwizi being chased by Janja and reported what he had seen to Kion. Ono pointed out that the troop had only entered the Outlands because they had been chased there by the Lion Guard. Kion then decided to save the troop, and the Lion Guard took off for the Outlands.
Meanwhile, Cheezi and Chungu were watching Uroho's show in fascination when Janja ran by and ordered them to help him catch the baboons. The hyenas gave chase, and the Lion Guard followed their trail to where they had cornered the baboons in a cavern. The team defeated Janja and his lackeys, and the baboons thanked the Lion Guard for saving their lives. In repayment for their past crimes, the troop agreed to hand out food to the Pride Landers, who were grateful for the baboons' change of heart. As they handed out food, the baboons put on another show.[1]

When Fuli tried and failed to gather some berries from a tree, Uroho, Mwevi, and Mwizi volunteered to fetch them for her. The baboons questioned Fuli as to why she needed the berries, and she explained that she was participating in a Christmas celebration. This reminded her that the performance required baboons, and so she recruited the three to be involved in the show.
That night, Uroho, Mwevi, and Mwizi attended Bunga's rehearsal. Things went well until the next morning, when everyone was leaning toward abandoning the project. Before the animals could depart, Bunga desperately explained that the performance was important to both himself and Timon. This caused Mwevi and the others to change their minds.
Later that day, Uroho, Mwevi, and Mwizi partook in the "The Twelve Ways of Christmas" performance. After the performance, Timon lamented that Dandy Claws would never come, only for Pumbaa to suddenly appear in costume. Pumbaa apologized for his lack of gifts, but Timon pointed out that their family and friends were the gifts. The Lion Guard decided to make Christmas an annual holiday in the Pride Lands, and the gathered Pride Landers yelled, "Merry Christmas!" in unison.[2]
Physical appearance
Mwevi is nearly identical to his companion, Mwizi. He is a tall and stocky baboon with tan fur. He has dark paws, a bright magenta nose, and a pale underbelly, muzzle, and head stripe. His eyes are brown.[1]
Personality and traits
Though he pretends to be a fun-loving and talented performer, Mwevi is truly a sly and cunning con artist. He takes pleasure in stealing from other animals and has no intention of paying for his crimes. However, after the Lion Guard saved his life, he repaid them by redistributing the food he had helped steal.[1]
