Nik Sant was a minor supporting character in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. He was portrayed by one L. Burner.
By the time the war against the Galactic Empire took place, Sant was a Lieutenant in the Rebel Alliance and one of its most senior scouts. Highly skilled at survival skills and guerilla attacks, he helped the Rebellion plan attacks against Imperial targets.
When Han Solo agreed to help the Rebellion take out the shield generator protecting the second Death Star, Sant helped Solo assemble a team of commandos, including Clone Wars veteran Captain Rex. Along with the rest of the Rebel personnel, he joined forces with the local Ewoks to capture the bunker. Capturing a scout trooper, Sant disguised himself as the trooper, but the Imperials saw through the disguise when they captured the strike team. However, the Ewoks ambushed the Imperials, giving the Rebels the chance to regroup. Sant and his fellow Rebels were ultimately successful and were able to destroy the bunker which brought the shield protecting the Death Star down, which was in turn destroyed by fighters led by Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antilles.
Trivia
- For some time, fans speculated that Captain Rex was the old commando briefly seen at the shield generator bunker in Return of the Jedi. This was due to the similar appearance of Rex and Sant. Rebels producer Dave Filoni fueled the speculation by stating that it was indeed possible the old man was Rex given that the series finale mentioned Rex as having been at Endor. Filoni later decided that the old man who appeared on film was the previously identified Nik Sant. However, in "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures: Han Solo - From Smuggler to General", Nik Sant was replaced by Rex.
