Bee Boonchuy

Mr. Boonchuy is a supporting character in Disney Channel's animated series, Amphibia.

He is voiced by Brian Sounalath.

Biography

After Anne returns to Earth with the Plantars after escaping King Andrias without Sasha or a severely injured Marcy, she travels back to her house to reunite with her parents Bee and Oum who were glad to see her safe and soon.

What the parents did not expect was for the Plantars to show themselves before the parents which made Bee faint. Anne proceeds to tell her parents a shortened version of the events she spent in Amphibia. Anne also objected to her frog friends being handed over to the authorities as she was unwilling to let them be experimented on.

Oum agrees to let the Plantars stay for the time being. The frogs proceed to party out with the Boonchuy parents keeping any Plantars inside the house when they come close to being outside.

When the parents were planning to go to the market, Anne insisted that that they let the Plantars come along. They agreed, but if something went wrong, the Plantars will be placed back into lockdown with his wife agreeing.

After the Boonchuys and the Plantars drive over to the market, Bee reminds them that they must stick with one another or they go back into lockdown. Suddenly when they enter the market, Jeff realized he forgot the shopping list, but is relieved that Anne had a photocopy of it.

After Anne manages to drive off the Fro-Bot assassin targeting her after a significient amount of damage was done to it, she was able to get the fish Bee wanted to get from the store before both families return home for noodles.

As Anne was gone for five months, Oum insisted her to go to the dentist while Bee works at Thai Go while having entrusted the family cat Domino to be taken to the vet. When Domino escapes following the visit to the vet, Polly and Sprig throw Hop Pop into Domino's pet carrier so they call Jeff on where Domino might be.

Bee gives them a tip that Domino might be at a shawarma restaurant. After Hop Pop imitated a fire alarm to drive the customers and the manager out in order for the Planters to retrieve Domino, Jeff arrives on motor scooter to retrieve them.

Bee is also grateful for the Plantars for taking care of his daughter Anne. Later when he, his family, and the Plantars head to the Thai Temple, attack drones attack the area leading to him making a failed hit on one of them forcing Polly and Sprig to cover for him.

When Polly activated Frobo after haphazardly fixing him, his eye beams burn a package and its contents Bee had to cinders before his eyes. When Polly activated Frobo after a second attempt at fixing him, the power goes out on Jeff while he was close to beating an boss. When Frobo regains his memories and sacrifices his body to save Polly from death, it resulted in a crater being formed in Bee's yard much to his horror.

At home the Boonchuy parents have been remarking how responsible and mature Anne was becoming. But when the robot assassin, Cloak-Bot, invades the Boonchuy family home when Andrias activated its self destruct function, they promptly retreat to Oum's "work out" room where she made dolls of Anne over the months she was missing. This actually manages to fool the assassin long enough to escape with Bee driving the car with both families with the robot hot on their tail.

After Anne tries fending off the robot, Oum uses her phone and tells her husband to take a left ramp running over the robot when it tries to impede them. After escaping to a junkyard, Oum proceeds to scold Anne under the belief she was still irresponsible.

However Anne defends herself by saying what she did was for the safety of the ones she cared for. Soon the assassin arrives, prompting Anne to suggest Oum to distract the robot with the dummy making skills she had. When the robot tries to shoot Anne with a nailgun, Oum thwarts this attempt by smashing into its body with a hammer and Anne impales it with a dead end sign.

After Oum bashes the robot a few more times with the hammer, the robot reveals its self destruct system which prompts Anne to use her gem power knock its busted body into the clouds before it blows up.

When Anne collapses from the power usage, Bee was driving home when he notices he was not in the group hug much to his disappointment.

Following the events of the previous episode, the Boonchuys and the Plantars were celebrating their victory over the assassin. Anne is confident in going without her parents since she does not expect another robot from Andrias to appear soon.

When Mr. X received the whereabouts of Anne and the Plantars, Oum brings her husband along to try and protect the Plantars from X. When Mr. X's partner blocks the theater entrance, Bee sends Anne a call to let her know he and his wife are trying to save them.

Bee almost immediately come to the idea to go to the pet shop where he buys some frogs as part of their plan to get Anne and the Plantars out while Oum uses a magic trick to stall the FBI. The Boonchuy parents kill the power to get Anne and the Plantars out via the airvent

On Sprig's birthday, when Bee was tending the flowers, he gets hit in the head when the frog boy drops his crown outside the window. Later, Bee brings Anne and Sprig to a place with hot air balloons for his birthday. After Anne and Sprig find themselves blown away by a crosswind as a result of ignoring the weather warning from Blair the balloonist, Bee finds himself alone at night and upset at Anne and Sprig not coming back to the car.

During the holidays, Bee makes a set of attempts at a photo, but they turn out badly for him several times.

After Anne succeeds in building a parade float against her mother's wishes, Anne shows it to both her parents with Oum being actually pleased with the effort.

Soon the Plantars and the Boonchuys join the parade with Oum appreciating being part of the community. However, Andrias, with his new remote-control robot, was able to find her as Oum feared and uses it to take over a giant Santa figure to attack the float Anne and company are on, prompting the I.T. gals, who were escorting the float, to help both families to escape while Oum and Bee throw decorations from the float to try and stall the Andrias-controlled Santa when they end up at a dead end.

Just as Andrias is about to obliterate the float and everyone on it, Anne and the Plantars use a tree as an improvised harpoon to impale the Santa machine to end Andrias's current threat.

Soon after they get home, Oum starts to laugh even though Andrias nearly killed them and Anne apologized for the events leading to it. Oum also reassures that they were able to to be together for Christmas. Bee also was able to get a photo of both families on top of the Santa robot's remains.

Trivia

It was originally believed his first name was Jeff. However, this was actually a misconception and an interview later confirmed it was actually Bee.
