Mabel Pines (born on August 31, 1999, five minutes before her twin brother) is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Dipper Pines) of Disney’s Gravity Falls franchise.
She is the older fraternal twin sister of Dipper Pines and the great-niece of both Stanley and Stanford Pines. Energetic, bouncy, and optimistic, Mabel makes the best of every situation. A lover of arts, crafts, and animals, Mabel is a hyperactive 13-year-old teenage girl and is the brawn to her brother's brains. She is also the best friend of Candy Chiu and Grenda Grendinator and the former rival of Pacifica Northwest.
She was voiced by Kristen Schaal, who also voiced Trixie in the Toy Story films, Barb in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 and Louise Belcher in Bob's Burgers.
Appearance
Mabel is a short girl who is exactly one millimeter taller than her twin brother. She has long brown hair that reaches her hips and curls towards the bottom, a little tuft of hair on the back of her head, and brown eyes just like Dipper's. She also has silver-colored braces and round blushing cheeks.
Her clothing constantly changes way more than any other character, which usually consists of a sweater, undershirt, skirt, headband, black ballerina flats, white anklet socks, and occasionally earrings. Her signature sweater being a short-sleeved pink undershirt underneath a slightly darker warm pink sweater with a shooting star, accompanied by a purple, teal and orange-striped tail falling toward the left, a matching warm pink headband, a loose purple pencil skirt, coupled with black ballerina flats and white socks.
Personality
Mabel Pines is an energetic girl with a very positive attitude. She is an extrovert while her brother is an introvert. As first introduced with "Norman", Mabel's romantic life remains quite central for her. She falls for boys frequently, quite often regardless of their feelings for her. Dipper is very important to Mabel and the two are emotionally inter-woven. Though Mabel often disagrees with her brother over his methods, morally they are very in-sync, and when one of the two deviates from what they know is right, the other often acts as the other's extended conscience.
Mabel tries to become popular, and though she never truly succeeds, she does make four major friends: the two local outcasts, Grenda and Candy, Wendy, a teenage employee at the Mystery Shack, and a pig she wins at the town fair, Waddles. Her quest to become popular is opposed by local debutante, Pacifica Northwest, whom Mabel tries to reach out to, but instead becomes a rival, though eventually the two do become at least tolerant of each other. Mabel is also shown to be pretty sensitive when Pacifica used to tease her about her personality and everything she does. In particular, Mabel becomes fiercely protective of Waddles, being willing to fight monsters to save him without a second thought.
She has a deep obsession with Unicorns, as she taped a traffic cone on a horse's head to look like one, which cause her to be banned from petting zoos. One of her fears is not being cute, as seen when she was in Stan's mind, when Bill Cipher turned her cuteness to ugliness.
By the end of the series and after getting stranded in an in-between world full of alternate versions of herself, Mabel has become matured to know when to put the needs pf others ahead of her own, and even knowing when it's time to accept the changes in her life.
Biography
Early Life
Born on August 31, 1999, Mabel Pines was born 1-minute before her twin brother Dipper in Piedmont, California, and according to herself, the first word she ever spoke was "unicorn" and growing up, she would find herself with a natural talent of art and became obsessed with anything girly from dolls to romance movies and have a happy & cheerful personality.
Despite having a polar-opposite personality to Dipper's book-smarts and being an introvert, he & Mabel were each other's best friend growing up & did a lot of things growing up together, from making each other smile at hard times to spending the holidays (especially Halloween and Christmas) together with the rest of their family.
Spending summer away from home
In the year 2012 Mabel, now 12 years old, was initially planning alongside Dipper to spend their summer vacation locked in their room, watching TV, playing video games and talking on the phone, but that immediately changed when their parents decided they need some fresh air and out-door living, so they decided to send them to a small, sleepy town hidden in Oregon called Gravity Falls, where they would spend their summer living with their paternal great-uncle, or "Grunkle" Stan, a con-man who's the owner of a tourist-trap called "The Mystery Shack".
Staying in the town made the twins greatly uncomfortable as not only does there uncle make them work in the Mystery Shack during their stay with him, but they quickly find most of the townsfolk that live in Gravity Falls to be absolute fools who easily believe even the lamest scam Stan would place as part of his morning tours. But for Mabel & Dipper, living with Stan wasn't all too bad because while he maybe a great charlatan, he was an all-around great guy, and they made quick friends with the other employees like the dumb-but-fun Handyman who greatly admires Stan named Soos, and the cool cashier teenaged girl named Wendy, who Dipper would also develop a crush on.
On a more personal level, being away from home for the summer made Mabel quickly decide it was her "chance to have an epic summer romance," and made pretty good on this initial promise by basically flirting with every guy she meets in the town, which pretty much goes out as her brother expected. But while she was doing pretty well in Gravity Falls, her brother on the other hand constantly felt something was off about how things in town played out, & while she remained unbothered by the latter's conspiracy theories, little did Mabel know was that one day she would realize that he was right, and that her & her family's lives would change forever.
Meeting her first "boyfriend"
One fateful day, after another failed flirting attempt and Dipper heads into the woods to nail down signs promoting the Mystery Shack, Mabel wanders into the town cemetery where she would bump into a messed-up "teenager" who claims his name is "Norman", and she would be immediately smitten by him. Despite having obvious signs of not being human, Mabel pretty much ignored the signs and raced to tell her family about it, but when she sees Dipper isn't back yet, she too heads off into the woods to tell her the big news she now has, and he finds him sitting by a log.
To Mabel's surprise, Dipper reveals he too found something while he was out in the woods: a mysterious journal buried underground written by a missing researcher that reveals that there were strange things all around Gravity Falls and the area surrounding it, but he had to bury it because he had to hide it from a mysterious enemy. Immediately afterwards Mabel then reveals her "new relationship" with Norman, and after some introductions he & Mabel head around town to go out on their "date", but unlike his sister, Dipper did notice something was off about him & after consulting the Journal, he went on to investigate who he is.
With her new "summer romance", Mabel and Norman (with Dipper secretly following them) go around town having fun all the way, where the latter is shown to have slow reaction time, garbled speech and always wore concealing clothes, so both Dipper and Mabel suspected he is not human, but while Mabel thinks he might be a vampire, Dipper believes that he is a zombie. Later when Dipper comes to her and he confirms his suspicions to her, Mabel turns him down with and after getting ready, she once again meets up with Norman and they head into the forest to be alone, but then when Norman says she wants something she should know about, an excited Mabel fully trusts her with it, but instead of a vampire, she soon learns that Normal is actually a group of gnomes, posing as a teenage boy, and their leader Jeff says that they're looking for a girl to be their queen and ask her to be it. But because of this newfound revelation and now seeing that her brother was right, a freaked-out Mabel warmly declines this, but they prove to be very possessive of their stuff and decide to make her their queen by force & kidnap her.
Now captured, an angry Mabel is forcefully brought to the Gnomes home in the woods and she has a hard time keeping them all out of her way, luckily for her, Dipper comes rushing on the shack's golf-cart and after being cut-loose, he & Mabel race back home as fast as they can, but that is soon made a lot harder when the Gnomes reveal themselves to form a giant and they race all the way back to the Mystery Shack where they are soon cornered. Needing a plan fast, Mabel urges Dipper to trust her with this and she starts by pretending to surrender & says to Jeff she will marry him, but one he comes down from the giant gnome and is easily tricked into kissing her, Mabel quickly grabs the leaf-blower (which she had earlier used for "kissing practice") and sucks him in and with Dipper pulling the reverse switch, they blast Jeff right into the Gnome giant which blows up and far into the forest, before scaring the other Gnomes away.
Though Mabel was excited by the adventure, she was also left glum by the loss of her potential love-interest and apologizes to Dipper about doubting him, but he cheers her up by predicting that she can always try again another time and they cap-up the adventure by doing their "awkward sibling-hug", afterwards Mabel & Dipper head into the Shack to get much-needed rest, where Stan allows them to take one thing from the Mystery Shack for free; Mabel's malaise melts away even more when she decides on a grappling hook. Though Grunkle Stan had something more like a doll in mind, she stands by it, following this Mabel learns that Dipper is deciding to keep the Journal and after what they had just encountered, she is more than willing to join him in finding out what other secrets Gravity Falls has to offer, little did she or Dipper know was that Stan too has a secret that's far from just a normal scam.
Gaining an unwanted admirer
A lot of time of finding new-and-bizarre things in the town, Mabel watches a commercial that sponsors her uncle's business charlatan rival Little Gideon Gleeful: a child-psychic who acts as something of a sham-faith minister, claiming he has the answer to everyone's questions for a fee. But despite being ordered by Stan to not interact with the "competition", she along with Dipper & Soos decide to check-out what Gideon is like, and they immediately see that he also takes advantage of the town's gullibility & while Dipper remains unconvinced, Mabel is still amazed with the latter's performance, unaware of something else that occurred.
The following morning, Mabel finds Gideon by the door and the latter asks if she could show her around his place, to which Mabel agrees to and they soon start hanging out more behind Stan's back to even striking up a good friendship with one another, but while she remained platonic in their relationship, Mabel soon learns too late that Gideon had fallen for her and asks her out on a date. However this time around she doesn't have the nerve to explode with joy over being asked out, but she can't bring herself to say "no" to his request due to not wanting to break his heart and because the whole town wants her to be with him, after venting her frustrations to Dipper Mabel once again goes out with him to try and tone down the romance, but that very night Gideon pulls her deeper into love zone & into another date.
Terrified about this new plan along with the fact that Gideon will be bringing her to a romance-themed restaurant, Mabel is left completely clueless on how to handle this, but she is calmed down by Dipper by pointing out it can't be worse and she's feeling alright with that... only to be told by Stan that she has to marry Gideon; while he was completely against Gideon dating her, he was won over by this aspect by the promise of a lot of money in a partnership with him. Learning about this makes Mabel even more mortified than before and this causes her to scream into the attic and sulk about her engagement with someone she doesn't love (not to mention too young on both their ages), but willing to help his sister out of this predicament, Dipper offers to break-up with Gideon for her and she happily embraces him for it, and heading to the restaurant he does just that and he & Mabel assume it's just fine.
A few days later while hanging out with the gang & despite feeling a lot better after the restaurant break-up, Mabel still feels some unfinished business with Gideon due to not breaking up with him herself, but after a one-sided talk with Wendy Mabel decides that she is gonna have to officially break up with Gideon herself. But seeing that he's nowhere to be found in his home, Mabel realizes that the only other place he would be is the abandoned factory, but upon arriving there Mabel finds Gideon revealing his true colors when she sees him attacking Dipper, from there she pretends to make up with him before prying out the amulet he was wearing (which somehow allowed him to use psychic powers) and throws it to Dipper.
But just as Dipper mocks him that he's powerless without his amulet, a furious Gideon charges at him that forces both of them out of the factory and falling deep down over the cliff it was hanging over. But Mabel manages to learn how to control the amulet and flies down after them to stop them from crashing hard into the ground, at which Mabel makes it crystal clear that she will never date him & destroys the amulet, but Gideon assures both twins that this feud between their families is far from over and creepily vanishes into the woods.
After the creepy encounter Mabel & Dipper return to the Shack in exhaustion and watch TV, just as Stan also arrives back home (with a stolen painting) and tells them that because of Mabel breaking up with him, he officially ends the partnership with him and angrily vows vengeance on their whole family. Regardless of the death-threat, Mabel and the rest of her family remain completely confident that they can handle any threat the little con-man can throw at them and continue to spend the rest of the night with comfort, completely unaware that not only that Gideon can & will make good on that threat, but he too is vastly aware of all the weirdness happening in the town with his own journal (the differences being a 2 in the front) to boot.
Making friends & rivals
A few days following the incident with Gideon, Mabel helps the others with setting up a party Grunkle Stan is planning on hosting in the shack as another (and more effective) way to attract customers to the shack. Along the way Mabel and her brother are later tasked with the task to hand-out fliers promoting the party as well as told that the old paper printer in Stan's office is working again, but also find that the printer can also copy parts of human beings (& ones as a whole) and make them alive.
Eventually once the party begins, Mabel immediately begins hanging out with all the guests that have come to visit, but after she heads to sit, she meets 2 girls named Candy and Grenda, and she immediately bonded with them. Soon afterwards Soos announces the main event for tonight, and the female Pines twin is promptly introduced to the child of the richest family in town Pacifica Northwest, and after hearing about the party's annual contest she immediately decides to compete, and while she ends up losing (mostly due to the rich girl cheating) she does gain the friendship of Candy & Grenda and they start hanging out, but she also won the animosity of Pacifica which she will learn about soon.
Uncovering a National mystery
One day, after getting caught in the middle of the town's annual "Pioneer day": the holiday in which is celebrated as the time Gravity Falls was found, which Grunkle Stan hates (because everyone basically acts like it was the pioneer times), Mabel is eager to start up the festivities, but Pacifica (still angry about almost losing to her) ruins her spirit by getting her odd behaviors mocked publicly, and because her great-grandfather was the "town founder" everyone joins in on the mocking. Resting up at the founder's statue, Mabel would soon learn that the author has discovered that Nathaniel Northwest might not have been the man history passed him off as, and seeing this as the chance to prove to Pacifica that she can be serious, she decides to come along with Dipper to find out, unaware that a someone is hot on their trail too.
Beginning their search for the truth in the library, Mabel and her brother slowly but surely (along with following Mabel's silly antics) followed the one code the author had discovered to discover who the real founder is. But when they found the 2nd clue, they realize that the 2 idiot cops of the town, Blubs & Durland are following them & speed up their search for answers.
Learning that the 2nd clue leads to a angel statue Mabel found in the cemetery, she and her brother find it also acts as a doorway to a hidden compartment and after narrowly evading all the booby-traps inside, the mystery twins find a bunker filled with all sorts of American secrets. When they find the file that involves the Northwest family, Mabel and Dipper read it to learn (much to their amusement) that Nathaniel Northwest was indeed not only a fraud, but really just a "waste shoveling village idiot" that was randomly picked by the government to cover-up the real founder: Quentin Trembley.
Suddenly Blubs & Durland showed up on the scene and Mabel & Dipper quickly nag them into explaining who Quentin Trembly is and why it's so secret, something which the cops decide to do. Playing a black-&-white film reel (much to Mabel's annoyance), Mabel and Dipper learn that Quentin was more than just the town founder, but also a former president of America (8½th president to be precise, though he only got the job because all the other contenders were killed in an actual landslide which made him win by default). But he was shown to be an incredibly insane man whose crazy laws ultimately led to him getting kicked out of the office & naming the valley that would become Gravity Falls, and afterwards replaced by William Henry Harrison as President & Nathaniel Northwest as town mayor & founder, after watching the film Mabel & Dipper are soon shown the very body of Trembley that's encased inside a block of solid peanut brittle (in an attempt to live forever), and learn that the cops found them threw Mabel unknowingly leaving a trail of candy wrappers, much to her embarrassment.
Things only get more worse for her & her brother because under strict orders from the top, Blubs and Durland capture them and put them & Trembley's body inside a crate that's being shipped all the way to Washington, where an upset Mabel gives up & admits that Pacifica was right about her being a goofball. But while moping she unknowingly takes a bite out of the peanut brittle block which immediately falls apart, but to her & Dipper's Surprise, this reveals to them that Quentin Trembley is still alive, and it was at this sight that Mabel begins to accept who she is regardless of what others might think of her.
Following this, Mabel, Dipper, and Trembley immediately went out of their way to escape the train with Blubs and Durland hot on their tail, but once they run out of train to cross, Dipper is able to get Quentin to trick the foolish cops into going on a vacation, to which they do. Afterwards the twins and Trembley head back to town and Mabel, happily accepting her silliness, decides to keep Trembley's status a secret (though Dipper goes ahead and does it anyway), and before leaving, Quentin makes Mabel a "congressman" in a form of gratitude and she & Dipper head off to meet back up with Stan.
A Time-travel fiasco and a new pet
Later one day, when Stan hosts a (barely legal) fair to attract in more tourists, Mabel wanders around the fair and spots a game where she can win herself a live pig from the local farmer Sprott. Upon spying around the pen to see which pig to win, she spots one that once it oinks, she interprets as it saying her name, and wins it when Sprott foolishly gives away the way to win it, and she happily bonds with it and gives it the name Waddles.
Though once she rushes to show Dipper her new pet, she realizes she timed it a bit too soon as Dipper had accidentally game Wendy (who agreed to hang out with him at the fair today) a black eye and has just begun dating a guy named Robbie, which greatly upsets him. Later that even when she and Waddles try to cheer a depressed Dipper up a mysterious man who Dipper bumped into while trying to help Wendy, and upon cornering him, they learn that he's really a time traveler from the future named Blendin who has a tape that acts as his way across time & is on a mission to stop a time anomaly hear.
Though after convincing him to take a break for awhile, Dipper uses this chance to swipe his tape and use it to prevent himself from hurting Wendy, something which Mabel wants to tag along with wants to go back in time to remember her greatest moment in life, adopting Waddles, which she does again and again once they have the device, while Dipper keeps on going back to stop Robbie from dating Wendy. Eventually Mabel helps Dipper succeed, but this leads to Mabel not winning Waddles. They get in a huge fight and end up going through time, to the 1800's, the Jurassic period, the future, marks from their previous adventures, to heading to the Mystery Shack about 20 years ago, before ultimately traveling to the present they had just created.
Though after Dipper rejects Mabel's plea to get Waddles back, she gives up and becomes miserable from a day all the way into a month, causing a guilt-ridden Dipper (who time-traveled further to prove she'll get over it) gives in and reverses the timeline so she can have Waddles, something which she thanks him for. Afterwards to show another sign of gratitude for Dipper's sacrifice (after accidentally causing the anomaly Blendin was supposed to stop & getting him in trouble with his superiors), Mabel sic's Waddles on Robbie and gets him humiliated in public, something is enough to cheer her brother up.
A big/little adventure
Sometime afterwards, after going through an attempt to steal the shack by Gideon and competing with her brother in a chess, Mabel discovers she is taller than Dipper by 1 millimeter (0.03 inches) and believes she will become an "Alpha Twin". She starts teasing him about it, unaware that this would force Dipper to take a piece of the height-altering crystal he found in the forest and attach it to a flashlight.
Using the enhanced flashlight, he increases his height, growing just a bit taller than Mabel, and tells an excuse to cover the secret by telling her he had a growth spurt because of puberty. But the moment Mabel finds out about his secret, she fights with him over the crystal flashlight, which ultimately causes it to fall into Gideon's hands, what's worse is that Gideon overheard the whole thing and shrinks the twins and takes them to his house.
While there, Mabel and Dipper are taken to his room and the little charlatan attempts to use them as blackmail so Stan will willingly give him the shack, but when he doesn't believe him he opts to just simply use the flashlight and shrink him to take the mystery shack by force. With this in mind Gideon heads to the shack while leaving his pet hamster to guard the twins, but they escape and race him back to the Shack by using a balloon.
However upon arriving back at the shack, the twins start arguing about their height again, and Gideon captures them again before shrinking their Grunkle... only to learn that it was just Soos wearing Stan's hat, but he then reveals where Stan currently is and stuffs all three of them in his pocket. While inside his pocket, Mabel tells Dipper the only reason she made fun of him was that he always rubbed his victories in her face, and Mabel notices, even when they were tiny, that she conserved her millimeter. The two make up and escape. They immobilize Gideon by tickling him, and Stan kicks him out of the Shack. The twins regrow themselves, and Dipper lets Mabel keep her millimeter.
Spooky Summerween
Later on June 31, upon learning about Gravity Falls has a summer version of Halloween (due to them loving the holiday so much), Summerween, Mabel and Dipper become very eager to trick-or-treat with Soos, Candy, and Grenda. But right after throwing away some "loser cadny", they are confronted by a beast from town folklore known as the Summerween Trickster, who threatens to eat the group if they fail to get him 500 pieces of candy by midnight.
Mabel retains a positive outlook, seeing it as a reason for Dipper to trick-or-treat with her, since he said he was sick. The gang begins to collect treats, and Mabel soon realizes that Dipper putting on his costume would greatly increase the amount of candy received at each house. As Dipper talks to Wendy about the party, Mabel and the others, who had gone to obtain the final piece of candy, overhear the conversation, thereby learning Dipper's motives for getting out of trick-or-treating: to attend a party with Wendy, and Mabel felt betrayed and grows angry at her brother.
After the group reaches their deadline for getting the Trickster's treats, the monster comes and, since the group lacked the required candy because of Dipper accidentally dumping it into a stream, attempts to eat them, only to be destroyed when Soos drives through him, but as they drive away they watch in horror as The Trickster then reassembles and chases the twins, Soos, Candy, and Grenda into the Summerween Superstore.
As they hide from the monster, Mabel reveals why she was upset with Dipper is because she was worried this might be the last time they'll be trick-or-treating. After reconciling over their earlier argument, Mabel & Dipper along with their pals attempt to escape, but Soos gets the Trickster's attention and gets eaten, this leads to the kids to launch an attack on the beast, but as they battle they learn that the Trickster is made of "loser" candy who came to life in retaliation for all the times it wasn't eaten, fortunately because he is made of candy, Soos bursts out of him eats the monster from the inside out.
Returning to the Mystery Shack, everyone, including Stan, Wendy, and Waddles, watches movies, eats candy and "celebrates pure evil" while Mabel has a wound she got earlier by Dipper, much to her happiness.
Head of the Shack
On one relatively extra stressful day of dealing with her great-uncles methods of how he runs the business so once the day os done, she storms into his office to confront him about it, specifically with how he mistreats his employees, though Stan is firm with his ways and even insults her methods for it. This ultimately leads to the two of them making a bet: whoever makes more money (Stan on vacation vs. Mabel as the boss) than the other in three days' time will be placed in charge for the remainder of the summer, Mabel even has both of them have insults to that bet where if she loses, she has to where a shirt with a big "LOSER" all summer, something both take to heart as Stan heads away.
With her conman relative away on his break and using the techniques she learns from Succeeding In Management 1983, Mabel encourages her employees to follow their dreams and accepts suggestions from them, much to the others' delight, and gain as many money as they could. Unfortunately, things start to get out-of-control when Soos (who wanted to act as the Shack's mascot) and Wendy begin to take advantage of her, and things get a little crazy that she unfortunately has to give out refunds to all the upset tourists.
Things become extremely complicated when she has Dipper capture a real beast (in retaliation to all the fake attractions Stan has around the house) for tourism, which he does in the form of a goblin/gremlin hybrid called the Gremloblin, which people somehow buy as fake. When no one was looking, Mabel snuck the key to his cage inside of it for its "five-minute break", and he uses his break to go on a rampage throughout the shack, during which Mabel sees that Stan had entered a game-show where he can win money and he is winning by a landslide, much to her horror.
While attempting to fight it, Mabel pours water on it, which only makes it stronger, and the creature continues destroying parts of the Mystery Shack and going for the profits, Mabel runs out to stop it, but ends up seeing her worst fear, fortunately Dipper saves her by using a mirror to make the Gremloblin's powers backfire on it (as his fear is being like his father) and he flees the shack. Although he is defeated the shack is left in ruin which leads to Mabel finally snapping, and she bosses around her workers like Stan and makes a large profit in doing so.
Sadly, due to the various expenses thanks to the Gremloblin attack, she is ultimately left with a single dollar; nonetheless, meanwhile, she still beats Stan in the game show, whose total is nothing. Despite her win, she rejects the opportunity to remain in charge, and she and Stan agree to stick to their places in the business... right after Dipper reminds her of her side of the bet: Stan has to perform an "apology song" about how wrong he was with lyrics by her, something she quite easily remembers and she does it with great success.
A wet adventure to her first kiss
On the hottest day of the summer, Mabel and the others head to the local pool where she spots, as her annoyed brother would remark, another one of her "crush of the week" guys she meets: a dashing Spanish-looking guy who Soos tells her that he is a "mysterious loner" because of a rumor about him saying that he never leaves the pool. Regardless of what the others are thinking about her "boy-crazy" faze, Mabel once again makes a dash for love with even putting up the hopes of finally getting her "first kiss" she's been dreaming of, upon meeting him and introducing herself, Mabel and the guy manage to come off quite friendly to each other, but passes her off as he says he's got a "terrible secret".
Thankfully due to all the weirdness she has run into this far, this secret only infatuates Mabel to him even more as well as determined to find out what he means by that secret by offering him a sandwich, which enough to convince the stranger to reveal his secret. To her surprise, Mabel finds out the reason behind him never leaving the pool is because he's actually a merman who is a teenager named Mermando, when the young girl asked why a creature like him would be living in a public pool, the young merman tells him the story about how it happened:
Sometime ago before summer began somewhere in the coast of Spain, but that all changed for him when one day he was swimming with his dolphin friends when he got himself captured in a fishing net, and (quite slightly fortunate for him so things won't get out of hand) being mistaken for a giant fish, he is scheduled to be made into fish food. Upon being placed into a truck, he arrived just outside Gravity Falls and managed to escape the truck and into the river, but as he tried swimming down the river and into the ocean, he got shoved offshore away from the river, he was fortunate enough to be saved by the neighboring animals, but he stumbled down a hill and right into the pool.
Amazed by his story, Mabel admits to not being freaked out by his merman nature, and they begin bonding over the various pool activities together, and when the pool closing time arrives, Mabel permits to Mermando's invitation to come back to the pool tonight. Once everyone at the shack had fallen to sleep, Mabel heads off back to the pool and using the net next to the gate, she crosses over before joining his merman crush in the pool.
Abilities
Mabel claims to be an arts and crafts master, which is supported by the skills she's shown so far. These include knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, bejeweling, wood carving, wax sculpting, and origami. Just like her brother, Mabel is shown to be a quick-thinker and can be observant, she also tends to solve problems in rather creative ways and is quite capable of picking locks.
Appearances in other media
- Mabel appears in pony form, named Maybelle, in the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic IDW comic book Nightmare Rarity, in which she appears in Rarity's nightmare.
- The characters in the cartoon that Lord Dominator from Wander Over Yonder watches are modeled after Dipper, Mabel, Grunkle Stan, and Soos.
