— Talin Elfbane
|
Talin Elfbane is a dwarf leader who commandeers a massive tank that is fought as a boss in Hammer's Reach. He reappears as a regular enemy in Under Hammer, using his tank to run down players on the base platform and hurl explosives at those attempting the jump section, and in Thunder Hammer without his tank.
In Talin's Revenge, the dwarf pilots his aircraft Talinroid, which the players must destroy.
Background
Talin is most likely a general in charge of defenses in Hammer's Reach. His surname, Elfbane, denotes that he abhors elves in all situations.
Story
Hammer's Reach
Talin accused the Grand Chase of being spies for the elves, not believing that they were pursuing Ashtaroth. They then left after having defeated him.
Under Hammer
Talin made a reappearance and sought to stop the Grand Chase, although attempting to make it look as if his arrival was a coincidence while Amy insulted him by suggesting he had a crush on her.
Thunder Hammer
Once more making an appearance, Talin tried to hinder the Grand Chase with Thunder Hammer Riflemen while also denying Amy's claims that he was primarily after her. Fortunately, his tank was nowhere to be seen, and he and the Riflemen were alone. Talin attacked as the Grand Chase approached, but was knocked down as a result of receiving too many hits from Hammer's Reach and presumably Under Hammer.
Talin's Revenge
Talin unexpectedly reappeared, this time in an aircraft, and attacked the Grand Chase on their way back to Serdin. Although the dwarves and the Grand Chase had already reconciled by that point, Elfbane sought to avenge himself by destroying them but was once again thwarted by the Grand Chase.

Attacks
Talin poses several attacks. He can first use a charge with his enormous tank. For melee strikes, his tank also has a rocket-firing projector. He can fling bombs that emit flamethrowers to the side, although they can easily be destroyed. Talin is also capable of launching 3 powerful rockets that move swiftly. Finally, he can create a small device that homes quite rapidly.
In Under Hammer, his tank constantly advances through while reappearing on the other side, and he, like his fellow Iron Dwarf Engineers, tosses hand grenades.
TIP: Talin's hitboxes are interestingly distinct for both himself and his tank. Because the tank's rider had less Defense than the tank itself, hitting Talin directly should end the battle faster.
Thunder Hammer
Talin calls upon Thunder Hammer Riflemen to attack the player on the platform map. If the player makes it on his platform, he cowers a little before unleashing a flurried rush that mimics Amy's Ditzy Rush but delivers extremely little damage and does not stun.
A single attack knocks Talin away, but he eventually falls and returns to the platform. He can be knocked away again by hitting him, and when some time has passed, he returns. After 3 strikes, the word TALIN appears on the screen, akin to a DANGER or JUMP warning, and the player receives Talin's Curse, which, oddly enough, increases Defense instead.
Talinroid

The Talinroid goes quickly and randomly all over the place, except not traveling half the screen to reach the left side.
- Talin's 2-Way Spreader Shot: Talinroid shoots 6 lines of 8 bullets in a ">>>>>" formation, 4 of which move upward and 4 of which travel downward. This attack employs the same 2-way spreader shot as the Aero Sentry Keeper MK-1, but Talinroid is faster, shoots fewer bullets, and leaves a larger gap. This space can be used by the player to evade the bullets.
- Talin's Twin Spiral Shot: In a spiral clockwise motion, Talinroid fires 2 lines of numerous bullets. Because the bullets are widely apart and there are large gaps between them, the player may avoid them.
- Talin's Spinning Shot: 7 rings of bullets are unleashed when Talinroid spins. Because the circles move swiftly and leave large gaps between them, the player may escape getting struck by the bullets.
- Talin's Flame Orbs: Talinroid will emit 6 flame orbs that travel slowly ahead as it advances at random.
