---|
House cats are creatures found in the Commonwealth, on the Island, and in Nuka-World in 2287.
Characteristics
There are different breeds of cats, varying slightly in fur color, pattern, and size. They are agile and can jump short distances, such as from the ground to a countertop. Some cats live independently in their home of choice, and others are the pets of wastelanders.
They will flee when confronted with combat situations, returning to their homes after the threat has dissipated. They will resume spending time on their favorite activities, including but not limited to licking their cat bowl or taking naps.

Notes
- If one uses the Animal Friend perk on a cat and attacks or gets caught stealing from a settlement, all settlers will attack the cat as though it is a threat, though it is not combat-enabled.
- With the Wasteland Workshop add-on, a cat can be captured in any settlement via a cat cage. Once released, it will add 10 bonus happiness points to the settlement (as much as some tier 1-2 stores). A beta wave emitter is not necessary to tame them. Also unlike all other captures, cats captured this way are protected.
- Killed cats will usually have cat meat in their inventory.
Appearances
House cats appear in Fallout 4 and its add-ons Far Harbor and Nuka-World.
