Mr. Pebbles

Mr. Pebbles was a Persian house cat, famous as being the "first cat in space," claimed to also be the first living thing sent into space by the United States Space Administration.^[1]

Mr. Pebbles also appears as a possible companion in the holotape game Wastelad.

Appearances

Mr. Pebbles is mentioned on posters scattered throughout the world in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, and appears in Fallout Shelter.

Behind the scenes

Mr Pebbles being the first organism in space is likely just American propaganda. The first organism intentionally sent into space was a fruit fly (or rather, fruit flies), aboard a V2 rocket launched from White Sands in 1947.^[2]
Mr. Pebbles appears to be the Fallout world's counterpart to the real world Belka and Strelka, two dogs who were launched into space aboard Sputnik 2 on August 19, 1960 and were later safely recovered.
In reality the first cat in space was Félicette, a stray Parisian cat launched into space as part of the French Space Program in 1963.
