Eheehee... do I smell gold in your pockets? You w- you- you wouldn't mind loaning me some, would you, düd?
- El Goblino
Gold is a form of currency in DOORS that can be found either inside containers, on top of containers, or on top of tables throughout runs.
Overview
The player can use gold to purchase items right from Jeff Shop. It can be used to gain Knobs after the player's run ends, either by dying, beating a floor, or going to The Rooms. For conversion purposes, 20 =
1. If the amount of gold is not evenly divisible by 20 and the remainder is
10 or higher, then
1 is given to the player. If the remainder is
9 or lower, the remaining gold is not converted to Knobs. The conversion caps at
500, not going up if you collect more than
10,000.
Types
There are 6 different types of gold that can appear in-game, each worth a different amount:
- One gold coin -
5
- Four stacked gold coins -
10
- One golden bar among three gold coins -
25
- Two golden bars -
50
- Three golden bars among two gold coins -
75
- Three golden bars among three gold coins and two jewels -
100

Players can also donate 10 to Jeff's tip jar
. Filling the jar will grant the player a Jeff themed booth in the game 'PLS DONATE' and grants a badge of the same name. It takes
100 to fill up the tip jar.
Trivia
- Gold used to have no purpose in gameplay before the introduction of Jeff Shop in the Hotel+ Update, other than being converted into additional Knobs once a run ended.
- gold used to be collected automatically after the crosshair was hovered over it for around 0.5 seconds. Players now need to manually interact with it to collect it as of The Mines update.
- When finding gold in containers, it will have sparkles around it.
- After collecting any type of gold, an animation of gold coins will fly from the spot where it was collected to the counter of gold on the top right corner of the screen. The amount of coins during the animation is randomized, but higher quantities of gold collected will display more coins going to the counter.
- Piles of gold are extremely common in The Rooms, which makes it the only floor where players are able to get
10,000, especially since there are 1,000 rooms.
- The value of gold is not consistent with their appearance. One gold coin is worth
5 but four gold coins in a pile is worth only 2 times the single gold coin, at
10.
- 1 piece of gold is worth ~$20.52, taken from the price of Lockpick, Flashlight, and Lighter. (For edits the flashlight was $5, $50 lockpick, $6.67 lighter. Each is price is one gold.)
- Originally, the Crucifix costed 250 Coins. Now, it costs 500 Coins.

Bugs
- There was a bug where gold could spawn on top of a door or other spots where the crucifix could spawn.
- Occasionally gold will spawn in the same spot as the Green Herb or other objects, making it unable to be picked up.
- The hitbox of gold was so big that it used to be able to cover players from any raycasting entity (Rush, Ambush, A-60, A-120 and Blitz) if the coin was in an open container, and the player was in the same space. This was patched in The Mines Update.
