"That is odd. I cannot figure out who you died to."
- Guiding Light's removed message about the Glitch.
Glitch is a strange and mysterious entity in DOORS found on every floor and sub-floor. Glitch primarily acts as a failsafe when certain in-game bugs/glitches occur. In multiplayer runs that take place inside The Rooms or The Backdoor, Glitch has a second additional purpose, which is to teleport players to the most recently opened door when the room they are in unloads. Glitch is now canon as of the Content Update due to Glitch Fragments spawning in The Backdoor, The Hotel, The Rooms, and The Mines. You can also encounter it by using the Admin Panel by spawning it yourself during your run.
Appearance
Glitch is a distinct black-colored humanoid similar to Seek, with multiple purple cubes and protrusions sticking out of its body, with black scan-lines textures. It passively emits an aura of pixelated and colored squares around its body and they emit a bright pink-purple light around them.
Behavior
In every floor and sub-floor, Glitch teleports the player back to the last opened room if they fall off the map or if the anti-cheat detects they are in a place they shouldn't be in, such as being outside of the map, or inside an unopened room.
Additionally, in sub-floors (The Rooms and The Backdoor), in Retro Mode and when using the Hotel- modifier, Glitch also will teleport players that are inside a room that is going to despawn because it is way too far back from the most recent room. The threshold is 7 rooms in The Rooms and 4 rooms in The Backdoor. Glitch basically functions like Void in the sub-floors, except for the fact that Glitch does not do any damage (except with the Hotel- modifier).
Notes
- Glitch can sometimes appear during any of Seek's chase sequences when a revive is used too early.
- Glitch can also rarely appear once when reviving.
- Glitch can technically appear in any room.
- Glitch has an item after it called the "Glitch Fragment", and Glitch also appears when interacting with one (although without teleporting the player).
Bugs
- Glitch's audio will sometimes break and will only play the 2nd sound.
- Glitch can sometimes bug out, essentially making the player get stuck in an infinite "failsafe". It's unknown how this can happen, but players can replicate it with the Admin Panel, by skipping many rooms quickly enough for this to happen.
- For around 2 hours, this bug affected many players who would get softlocked and not be able to progress. Although, it has now been fixed.
- During this time, if you died to Glitch, no death message would play.

- Glitch can sometimes bug out and do no animation or movement. Instead, Glitch will stay in an I-pose right behind the player.
- If Screech is present around the player and Glitch jumpscares the player, Screech will instantly damage the player, without any sound or jumpscare. This started happening in The Hotel+ Update.
- When Glitch teleports players for falling into the void, it fails to update the room they are in.
Trivia
- As of the Content Update, Glitch is canon.[1]
- Previously, it was deemed non-canon to the game.[2]
- The Guiding Light said it didn't know who killed the player if Glitch teleported them to the group. However, this message was removed in the Hotel+ Update and the statement was seemingly retconned when El Goblino claimed to have seen someone that looked similar to Seek, but purple and weird, inferring it encountered Glitch. However, it was confirmed that this will be updated for consistency with what is canon to DOORS.[3]
- However, the dialogue has seemingly been in-game for quite a while, and considering Glitch's new canonicity to the game, it may never be updated.

- Prior to the Hunt update, Glitch also teleported every player in The Hotel if a room generation error (rooms overlapping) was detected, despawning and closing every room before the last opened room.
- A new room generation system was implemented in the update, however, which solved room generation errors, making this encounter impossible.
- Prior to the Hotel+ Update, Glitch also teleported players that lagged behind in The Hotel back to the group and dealt 20-40 damage when doing so. This function has now been given to Void.
- Ironically, this was Glitch's original purpose. The room generation failsafe functionality was added later on.
- However, Glitch can still teleport players who are behind in The Rooms or The Backdoor.
- Glitch is the only entity to appear on every Floor.
- Glitch can jumpscare multiple times in a row.
- Despite popular belief, Glitch cannot damage or kill the player.
- However, as stated before, Glitch could damage or kill players before Hotel+.
- In the Tower Heroes Event, Glitch seems to shapeshift into/possess other entities, albeit still showing its glitchy particles.
- It is probably only capable of this because the Tower Heroes event was non-canon.
- With the release of the Content Update, it is possible that the Glitch Fragments intentionally parallel this behavior, though it is only speculation as of now.
- It is probably only capable of this because the Tower Heroes event was non-canon.
- In The Mines' release date trailer, the original release date of January 2025 was changed to August 30th, 2024 by Glitch, creating a popular joke in the DOORS community that Glitch "saved" The Mines' release.
- LSPLASH jokingly said that Glitch would have some lore in 2029.[4]
- Glitch has two animations, the walking animation which is called "gl_Glitch" and an attack animation, which is only seen a frame before it's jumpscare UI, called "gl_Glitch hit".
- Glitch has an extreme amount of lore found within the developer console.
- When certain events with the Glitch Fragment happen, the developer console refers to the glitched entities as "hallucinations", implying that they are not real and only the player sees them. This affirmation gains strength when Guiding Light (or Curious Light), after we die multiple times to them, say that we suffered a heart attack because something is causing us to see things.
- When a Glitch Fragment is activated and if a RNIUSHCg== or a AR0xMBUSH spawns in, a message will be printed on the developer console that states "Hello friend...", meaning that Glitch may possibly know the Player.
- Glitch's achivement icon was different prior Hotel+ update.
- Glitch's position, exactly like Screech, will be based on the camera, and not in the player's position.
- This means Glitch can't be seen freely with the Free Camera, it will always appear behind the player's camera.
- Currently, there are a few ways the player can encounter Glitch intentionally.
- The easiest and most known way is being in a room that is going to despawn in any sub-floor, being helped by teammates this is possible.
- In main floors, falling into the void is possible skipping Void's teleport using a hiding spot. Timing it correctly to exit right before being teleported will skip the teleport, falling into the void and spawning Glitch.[5]
- In main floors and sub-floors, lagging can manipulate the anti-cheat into thinking the player was in a different position before the game started receiving data from the player. This can be inconsistent and hard to replicate. Doing this near a wall that leads into the void will make them fall into it, spawning Glitch.
- There is a trick that is practically only possible playing on PC (with mouse). This can make the game think they are lagging to actually manipulate the anti-cheat. Equipping and unequipping the same item extremely fast (using the mouse wheel quickly) simulates lag. This is a bug.[6]
- There is a wall at the end of The Hotel that loses its collision during the final chase. However, the player will be softlocked after Glitch teleports them (and there are also no drawers to get the Glitch Fragment). This is a bug.[7]
- With the Admin Panel, Glitch can be found easily using the Noclip to fall into the void or to get inside an unopened room.
- In Retro Mode, players can run back until they see the void. When rooms despawn in this floor, the doors don't close, being possible to see the void. Walking into it will spawn Glitch.
- In SUPER HARD MODE, players can walk into the secret "void" room in The Reception. Doing so will spawn Glitch.[8]

Glitch can also be found by staying behind in an unloading room in The Backdoor.
This mechanic was possibly accidentally removed.
