Snap

The Snap is a major event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After Thanos collected the six Infinity Stones, he used them to wipe out half of the population of the entire universe. 23 days after wiping out half, the Avengers examined what Thanos had done and a grief-shaken Tony demanded to know where Thanos was, although Steve had no idea, which briefly caused a riff in their friendship. This led to Tony passing out and the other Avengers, including Carol Danvers and Nebula, located Thanos on another planet, where Thor killed him, leaving the heroes defeated.

In a parallel world named Earth-838, the Snap was commencing when the Illuminati were able to kill Thanos and prevent the event from happening, resulting in Thanos being killed on Titan.

Trivia

• The victims of this event are also known as "The Vanished".
• The term "Blip" originated in Spider-Man: Far From Home, used to describe half of the population disappearing due to Thanos' Snap, the five year time period as well as the resurrection five years later.
• Two children of MCU heroes were born during the Blip period. Morgan Stark who is the daughter of the late Tony Stark and Pepper Potts; and T'Challa II, who is the son of the late king T'Challa and Nakia.
• Wanda Maximoff was originally going to be one of the survivors of the Snap, until the idea got changed to her being killed.^[1]
