Synopsis

"Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels."[1]

Plot

The new leader of the Kree Dar-Benn, retrieves the one half of the Quantum Bands, which Kamala Khan owns the other half, and harnesses its power with her staff named The Universal Weapon, and uses it to tear apart a jump point in space. The anomaly was discovered by S.W.O.R.D..

Meanwhile, Nick Fury, now residing in the S.A.B.E.R. space station, is hosting peace negotiations between the Kree and Skrulls, when he contacts Carol Danvers to investigate the anomaly. During that time, Monica Rambeau is also noticing a jump point near the station when she reaches out to look. Kamala's quantum band is activated at her home when the three of them switch places through teleportation at the same time. Monica is transported where Carol was, Carol was transported to the Khan Residence in Jersey City leaving the Khans' house destroyed in their wake, and Kamala was transported to where Monica was.

As the three women return to their original places, Nick and Monica go to the Khan Residence to look for Kamala, they explain that their powers are causing a quantum entanglement, which then Kamala demonstrates and switches places with Carol. When she flies away, she switches places with Kamala in mid-air.

The three join up at a Skrull refugee colony in Tarnax, where talks of resettlement have dissolved between Dar-Benn and Emperor Dro'ge. Dar-Benn then rips open another jump point, which drains the atmosphere of Tarnax into Hala to try and restore the air in the planet. After a rapid effort to evacuate the Skrulls from the planet, the trio form a team informally referred to by Kamala as "The Marvels". Carol notices Kamala's bangle and tells her that it's one of the Quantum Bands, which had been used to created the jump point transportation network, the three became entangled due to their mutual contact with its energy when Dar-Benn disrupted it.

Dar-Benn then goes to Aladna, a musical planet ruled by Prince Yan, in which Carol has a history with. She reveals that they consider her as the princess of Aladna as she is informally married to him. They also speak in "singing language". Carol warns Yan and its people that danger is imminent and that they need to prepare for war. Yan understands and prepares an army.

As they battle, Dar-Benn uses the universal weapon and quantum band to open another jump point and draws the ocean water to Hala, with her final plan being to absorb the Earth's Sun. The trio try to subdue her to no avail, and Dar-Benn then steal's the other quantum band from Kamala. She uses both bangles in conjunction to open up another hole in space, but in effort in doing so, she succumbs to its power and dies, leaving behind an opening to the multiverse. After Kamala reclaims her bangle, her and Carol use their combined powers to energize Monica, in which she then attempts to close the jump point. The closing was successful, but Monica was left stranded on the other side of the jump point.

Carol and Kamala then head back to Louisiana, where the Khan family moves to Maria Rambeau's house. They bond in the plane that Carol used to pilot, saying how much they Monica being here.

Kamala later goes to New York City and meets up with Kate Bishop to recruit her for a new team.

In the mid-credit scene, Monica wakes up in a lab, where she finds an alternate version of Maria Rambeau in a parallel universe, in which she was Binary, and then meets Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast.

Audiences polled by CinemaScore rated the movie a "B", tied with Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as the site's lowest-rated MCU movies ever.

It went on to gross $197.7 million worldwide against a reported $275 million budget, becoming the lowest-grossing film ever in the MCU (surpassing The Incredible Hulk) and a massive box-office bomb.
