Physical appearance
Chigaru is a moderately sized lion with a thin face. He has golden fur, with a bi-colored mane of brown and gold. His eyes are yellow.
Appearances
Mufasa: The Lion King
After a young Taka saved Mufasa from two crocodiles with help from his mother Eshe, the young Mufasa was brought to Obasi, who identified him as a stray cub whom his pride should avoid associating as he gave his order, accusing him for being an outsider. Although he declared Mufasa to be an outcast separated from Afia and Masego, Mufasa claimed that he was fast. This led Obasi to start a proposal that Mufasa should race with Taka giving him a deal that if he won, he would join the pride and if he lost, he would be killed. As the pride watched, the two cubs raced, and Taka allowed Mufasa to win. Furious, Obasi forced Mufasa to live among the females of the pride.
Some time later when Mufasa and Taka grew up as adolescent lions, they pranked the males of the pride with warnings about an elephant stampede. Upon realizing their trick, Chigaru declared that Obasi's sons were nothing but trouble, but Obasi countered that Mufasa was not his son and ordered him to leave the tree.
Later that day, Eshe and Mufasa were ambushed by two Outsiders while on a hunt. With Mufasa supporting a wounded Eshe, they returned to the pride and reported what had happened. Mufasa warned that the Outsiders were less than a day away, and so, Obasi sent Chigaru to scout the nearby area and verify Mufasa's claims. Heeding his king's orders, Chigaru spied on the Outsiders, and witnessed them killing one of their own for having let their king's son die.
Panicked, Chigaru returned to his pride and reported that the Outsiders were coming for them and had twice their own numbers. He added that they would be there with the sunrise. In an effort to preserve his bloodline, Obasi sent Taka away, with Mufasa accompanying him as his protector. The next morning, the Outsiders confronted Obasi's pride and killed them.
