The following Apple-related events occurred or were scheduled in 2016:

January 12: RPN Calculator 1.3 is released for iOS 8.1 or later.
January 19: iOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.3 (El Capitan) are released.
January 20: Crashlands is released for iOS.
January 28: iTunes Radio stations, except Beats 1, begin limiting access to Apple Music subscribers.
January 29: The iTunes Radio channel is replaced by Beats 1.

February 25: Love You to Bits is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.

March 3: Gear.Club - True Racing is released for iOS.
March 9: Intaglio SketchPad is updated to version 2.5 with iOS 9 and 64-bit support.
March 21: Apple CEO Tim Cook hosts a special event titled "Let us loop you in." to announce the 9.7-inch version of the 1st-generation iPad Pro. The 1st-generation iPhone SE, iOS 9.3, OS X 10.11.4, tvOS 9.2, watchOS 2.2, and Apple Classroom are also released. The 1st-generation iPad Air and last remaining versions of the iPhone 5S (16 and 32 GB) are discontinued.
March 24: The Smart Keyboard is released for the 1st-generation iPad Pro. Samorost 3 is released for Mac OS X.
March 26: The Apple Saddle Creek retail store re-opens in a larger re-designed space.
March 29: Intaglio SketchPad 2.5.1 is released for iOS.
March 31: The 1st-generation iPhone SE and 9.7-inch version of the 1st-generation iPad Pro are released. iOS 9.3.1 is also released.

April 6: Chameleon Run is released for iOS and tvOS. HomePy is released for HomeKit users on iOS.
April 11: Intaglio SketchPad 2.5.2 is released for iOS.
April 17: The Apple Willow Bend retail store is closed for renovation. Legend of the Skyfish is released for iOS.
April 18: Bill Campbell, former Claris CEO and member of the Apple Board of Directors, passes away.
April 27: Employee Ed Mackowiak is found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot at Apple's 1 Infinite Loop campus.

May 16: iOS 9.3.2, OS X 10.11.5 (El Capitan), and watchOS 2.2.1 are released.

June 10: Galaga Wars is soft-launched for iOS 8 in Australia and Canada with Game Center support.
June 13-17: The 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference is held at Moscone Center West and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. New aAnnouncements include iOS 10, macOS Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3.
June 22: Human: Fall Flat is released for Mac OS X.
June 30: Intaglio SketchPad 2.5.3 is released for iOS.

July 6: Super Stickman Golf 3 is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
July 12: TIME LOCKER is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
July 18: iOS 9.3.3, OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan), and watchOS 2.2.2 are released.
July 25: Kingdom Rush Frontiers - Tower Defense is released for OS X.
July 29: The OS X version of Stardew Valley is released.

August 1: A 64-bit version of the Apple TV Remote app is released.
August 2: Riptide GP: Renegade is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
August 4: iOS 9.3.4 is released.
August 11: Reigns is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
August 25: iOS 9.3.5 is released.

September 1: The iOS version of Samorost 3 is released through the Apple App Store.
September 7: The 1st-generation AirPods, the Apple Watch Series 2, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models are announced in a special event. The iPhone 6 Plus, the 16 and 64 GB versions of the iPhone 6, and the original Apple Watch series are discontinued.
September 13: iOS 10, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 are released to the public.
September 16: The Apple Watch Series 1 and 2, and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are released; the Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter is also released due to the omission of the headphone jack from this and future iPhone designs.
September 20: macOS Sierra (version 10.12) and Xsan 5 are released to the public.
September 24: The first Apple retail store in Mexico is opened in Cuajimalpa.

October 6: Instagram is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
October 10: macOS 10.12.1 (Sierra) is released.
October 24: watchOS 3.1 is released.
October 27: Apple hosts a special event during which MacBook Pro models updated with the Touch Bar and Apple T1 security chip are released.

November 2: Bold Moves is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
November 15: Apple announces the upcoming release of its Designed by Apple in California pictorial book.
November 16: The Designed by Apple in California pictorial book is published by Apple Inc.

December 12: iOS 10.2 and watchOS 3.1.1 are released.
December 13: The 1st-generation AirPods and macOS 10.12.2 (Sierra) are released.
December 19: Minecraft: Apple TV Edition is released.
