January 2008
- January 7: Andrea Jung is elected to the Apple Board of Directors.
- January 8: The 1st-generation Mac Pro is updated to "Harpertown" Intel Xeon processors (MacPro3,1).
- January 15: Apple CEO Steve Jobs, in his final appearance at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, announces the MacBook Air. The Apple TV Software 2.0 update is released for the 1st-generation Apple TV.
- January 22: A pink version of the 3rd-generation iPod nano is released.
- January 29: The 1st-generation MacBook Air is released.
February 2008
- February 5: A 16 GB version of the 1st-generation iPhone and a 32 GB version of the 1st-generation iPod touch are released.
- February 11: Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Leopard) is released, along with a Leopard Graphics Update for users of certain GPU cards.
- February 19: The 2 GB version of the 2nd-generation iPod shuffle is released. Xsan 2 begins shipping.
March 2008
- March 6: Apple holds an iPhone Software Roadmap event, where the first SDK for iPhone OS is released.
- March 28: Apple TV Software 2.0.1 is released.
April 2008
- April 8: Final Cut Server is released.
- April 11: Apple Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio is robbed by burglars.
- April 23: Apple acquires P.A. Semi, a fabless semiconductor company.
- April 28: John Patrick Crecine, former board member of NeXT, passes away.
- April 30: Sun xVM VirtualBox 1.6.0 is released with support for Mac OS X.
May 2008
- May 28: Mac OS X 10.5.3 (Leopard) is released.
June 2008
- June 2: WebKit is updated with a faster JavaScript interpreter, code-named "SquirrelFish", which would become part of Safari 4.
- June 9-13: The 2008 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2008) is held at Moscone West in San Francisco. During the keynote event on the opening day, the iPhone 3G, iPhone OS 2, and the App Store are announced.
- June 12: The ATI Radeon HD 3870 Mac & PC Edition is announced for the 1st-generation Mac Pro. The WWDC 2008 Bash is held at the Yerba Buena Gardens, featuring the Barenaked Ladies.
- June 19: The first Apple retail store in Australia is opened.
- June 30: Mac OS X 10.5.4 (Leopard) is released.
July 2008
- July 9: Apple launches MobileMe cloud services through Me.com, replacing .Mac. The Apple TV Software 2.1 update is released for the 1st-generation Apple TV.
- July 10: Apple launches the App Store via an update to iTunes; some of the first games to be released are TETRIS and Texas Hold'em for iPhone OS. Facebook and the Remote app are also released for iPhone OS.
- July 11: The iPhone 3G and iPhone OS 2 are released.
- July 15: iPhone OS 1.1.5 is released as the final security update for users who did not update to iPhone OS 2. The 1st-generation iPhone is discontinued.
- July 19: The first Apple retail store in Australia is opened in Sydney.
August 2008
- August 12: A three-alarm fire breaks out at one of the buildings of Apple's 1 Infinite Loop campus, causing about $2 million of damage.
September 2008
- September 2: Google releases the Chromium open source web browser.
- September 9: The 2nd-generation iPod touch and 4th-generation iPod nano are released at a special event titled "Let's Rock". The 2nd-generation iPod shuffle is also refreshed in four new colors. The 1st-generation iPod touch and 3rd-generation iPod nano are discontinued.
- September 15: Mac OS X 10.5.5 (Leopard) is released.
- September 25: The first Apple retail store in Switzerland is opened in Geneva.

October 2008
- October 2: Apple TV Software 2.2 is released.
- October 14: The first Aluminum unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro are released. The 24-inch LED Cinema Display is also released, replacing the 23-inch Cinema HD Display.
November 2008
- November 17: The aluminum 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display is discontinued.
- November 19: Apple TV Software 2.3 is released.
- November 23: Xcode 3.1.2 is released.
December 2008
- December 6: The first Apple retail store in Germany is opened in Munich.
- December 15: Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Leopard) is released.
