January 1999
- January 1: The Power Macintosh G3 All-In-One is discontinued.
- January 5: Apple Computer interim CEO Steve Jobs hosts the keynote event at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, where he introduces the blue & white Power Macintosh G3 tower, Mac OS X Server, and the new 266 MHz version of the iMac G3 in "Five Flavors".
- January 6: Radius becomes "Digital Origin".
- January 31: Apple runs its first Super Bowl commercial in years, to promote that Mac OS does not have a Y2K bug, though the 2020 bug would not be fixed until Mac OS 9.0.4 was released in April 2000.
February 1999
- February 21: Apple interim CEO Steve Jobs presents the keynote event of Macworld Expo in Tokyo, recapping introductions from the January 5 Macworld Expo in San Francisco.

- March 16: Mac OS X Server 1.0 is released.

- May 10-14: The 1999 Worldwide Developers Conference is held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, where Mac OS 8.6 is introduced on the opening day.
June 1999
- June 20: Pirates of Silicon Valley, a dramatization of the rivalry between Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, premieres as a television movie.
July 1999
- July 4: DayStar Digital, a Macintosh processor upgrade and clone manufacturer, is dissolved.
- July 14: SoundJam MP, the predecessor to iTunes, is released by Casady & Greene.
- July 19: The iBook G3, the first world's first Wi-Fi enabled laptop with an AirPort card, is introduced at Macworld Expo in New York.
August 1999
- August 16: Audion 1.0 is released for classic Mac OS.
- August 23: The Berkeley Macintosh Users Group stops accepting membership dues.
- August 31: Apple Computer interim CEO Steve Jobs introduces the Power Mac G4 tower with PowerPC G4 processor. Henry E. Singleton, former member of the Apple Board of Directors, passes away.
September 1999
- September 1: The first Apple Cinema Display is released.
- September 15-19: Apple Expo 1999 is held in Paris, France.

- October 5: Apple Computer holds a special event in Cupertino, where interim CEO Steve Jobs demonstrates Mac OS 9 and introduces the iMac DV and iMovie.
