January 2000
- January 5: The iTools online services are introduced by Steve Jobs at Macworld Expo in San Francisco.
- January 14: Mac OS X Server 1.2 is released.
February 2000
- February 15: The PowerBook G3 "Pismo" is released with Mac OS 9.0.2.
- February 7: Be announces BeOS for Internet Appliances (BeIA).
- February 16: The iBook Special Edition is released.
March 2000
- March 6: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) withdraws the NuBus spec after it has been abandoned by Apple Computer in favor of PCI.
- March 30-April 1: Apple Expo holds its UK event at Wembley Park in London.
April 2000
- April 4: Mac OS 9.0.4 is released.
- April 20: Edgar S. Woolard Jr. retires from the Apple Board of Directors.
- April 27: Microsoft Office 2001 is announced, the last major version for classic Mac OS.
May 2000
- May 15-19: The 2000 Worldwide Developers Conference is held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in California.
June 2000
- June 19: Windows Me is released by Microsoft.
- June 21: Apple Computer stock (AAPL) is split for the second time, 2-for-1.
July 2000
- July 19: Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs introduces faster iMac G3 models in different colors, the iMac DV Special Edition, the Power Mac G4 Cube, the Apple Pro Keyboard, and new Apple Studio and Cinema Display models at the Macworld Expo in New York. iMovie 2 is also released and the original translucent Apple USB Keyboard is discontinued.
August 2000
- August 15: Arthur Levinson is appointed to the Apple Board of Directors.
September 2000
- September 13: Mac OS X Public Beta becomes available; the commercial release is delayed to 2001.
- September 13-17: The fall Apple Expo 2000 is held in Paris, France, where Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduces new iBook and iMac G3 models in new colours.
October 2000
- October 9: Apple Computer announces that senior VP of worldwide sales Mitch Mandich is retiring at the end of the year.
- October 11: Microsoft Office 2001 is the last major version of the office suite to be released for classic Mac OS.
- October 24: Future iPod peripheral manufacturer Sonic Impact Technologies is incorporated.
