Fiona (Japanese: マシロ , Mashiro) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Overview
Fiona is the commander of Colony Mu. She is a caring soldier inspires her comrades with her large flag-like blade, known as the War Standard, to boost everyone's morale. She has a calm and gentle personality and is affectionately known as "Fifi" by her fellow colony pals. She is very friendly, and is sometimes a little too kind for a soldier.[1][2]
Fiona can be recruited as a Hero by completing the Hero Quest Transparent Dreams.[3] Her Class Rank is increased to 20 by completing the Ascension Quest A Farewell Reset.
Story
Following the death of the previous commander, Fiona begged the Consul to change the way the Colony fought; after an intense debate, the Consul declared Fiona to be the new commander as a form of punishment. Although she believes herself to be unfit for the position and is greatly strained by its duties and the knowledge that the colony's survival relies on her, she cares too much for her friends to abandon her responsibilities. Her friends similarly understand the burdens she carries and wish to support her in turn.
After Noah and his allies find Fiona injured on the outskirts of her colony in the midst of a Keves raid, she asks them to help her protect her comrades. However, they find that only a handful of soldiers led by her lieutenant and close friend Irma are still alive. After saving them, Fiona and Irma reveal that their Ferronis and its Flame Clock are fakes and that only the Consul knows where the real Flame Clock is.
Noah's allies learn several other bizarre things about the Colony upon further investigation- nobody knows the Colony's rank, the Consul vanishes for prolonged periods of time, takes stock of the colony's supplies personally, sends down unusually broad orders, and only has the colony fight when their Flame Clock is close to depletion. Furthermore, despite not having fought any major battles the Flame Clock's supply is unusually stable and their supply chain had shown no signs of ever being disrupted, which is at odds with the casualties the colony has taken in the past and its soldiers' unusually young ages.
They come to the conclusion instead of the lack of information being meant to mislead Colony Mu's enemies, it is meant to mislead the colony's own residents. After recalling being told that the Consul once said "people only see what they want to see", they wonder if Fiona was made commander as a way of hiding inconvenient facts and conclude that the Consul is betraying the colony to Keves. When they go to tell her, they find that the other soldiers have been brainwashed.
Irma reveals herself to have been the Consul I in disguise. She explains that by putting the colony through hardships to bring them closer together, their life force would be strengthened. However, she came to admire Fiona's purity of purpose and the colony's willingness to support her. Upon seeing Fiona refuse to fight her, Irma shoots her and reminds her that she ought to do her best for everyone and that she is the one responsible for killing their friends.
Upon her defeat, Irma reassures Fiona that she shouldn't weep for her and that she genuinely saw her as a friend. The Colony's true Ferronis is revealed, and after its Flame Clock is destroyed Fiona joins the party in the hope that perhaps she might learn what Irma really wanted.
Gameplay
Her class is a Healer class named Signifer.[4][2] She can give random enhancement or support effects to allies.[5]
