Ferronises (Japanese: 鉄巨神, Tetsu Kyoshin, lit. Iron Giant God) are huge mobile military bases in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed.[1]
Overview
These mobile bases, which are independent army and living place for soldiers, rest at the heart of each Colony. If the need arises, they are also capable of becoming devastating weapons of war. There are numerous colonies and some of them have various roles, such as producing weapons instead of battling.[2] Other Ferronises are small enough to be piloted by a single individual and are used as mobile assault weapons.
The armies of Keves and Agnus utilize dozens of these giants. While the Ferronises of Keves must be boarded and operated by individual soldiers, those of Agnus are capable of autonomous movement.[3] If a Ferronis' Flame Clock runs empty, the people who belong to that Ferronis are doomed to die.[4] However, destroying the Flame Clock will free them from this limitation. The only known weapons capable of destroying Flame Clocks are Lucky Seven, the Monado, the Monado REX+, and the Firelight Swords.

- Main article: Ferronis Hulk

Throughout the world, the party may come across Ferronis Hulks that are decrepit Ferronises and can be rebooted and used as Rest Spots. As the party approaches the Ferronis Hulk, a quest will activate. These quests involve defeating several enemies that are around the Hulk. After the enemies are defeated, the party must then reboot the Ferronis using a certain amount of Ether Cylinders.
After rebooting a Ferronis Hulk, its Fabricator becomes usable and the Containers next to the Ferronis Hulk will unlock. The Ferronis Hulk will also be able to be used as a Rest Spot, and Nopon Merchants will appear at the Hulk, along with a new Accessory Shop.
Trivia
- Their Japanese name is similar to that of Bionis (Japanese: 巨神, Kyoshin, lit. Giant God) and that of the Titans (Japanese: 巨神獣, Kyoshin-jū, lit. Giant Divine Beasts).
- The designs of the Kevesi and Agnian Ferronises are based on Faced Mechon and Artifices, respectively.
- According to Tetsuya Takahashi in Xenoblade 3 Official Artworks Aionios Moments, colonies were originally planned to be located on the Ferronises, but the idea was scrapped due to time and budget.
