The Horrible Machine is a supporting antagonist and a boss of the 2003 video game, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
It was an artificial intelligence that was created by the Hoodlums to be the core and guardian of the Hoodlum Headquarters after establishing their base at the Summit Beyond The Clouds. It would do its program to defeat Rayman and eventually initiate its self-sequence sequence as a final attempt to defeat him.
Biography
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Following the formed alliance between André and Reflux and the Hoodlums establishing their base of at the Summit Beyond The Clouds, the Horrible Machine was created by the Hoodlums to work as the main core of the base and guardian as its protector. It has been given an equipment with the modifications as it has go into three modes consisting of using its summoning Hoodmongers, Hoodstormers and Hoodbooms to defend it in case of it being under attack. As the Hoodlums carry their work now that they are fully organized in preparation to succeed in conquering the Glade of Dreams, the Horrible Machine would be seen in its core form pumping by means in powering the headquarters. Under its programming and orders by André, it was set to capture Globox and take him elsewhere to a shipment room full of Armaguiddons where Rayman tries to enter following him, but the Horrible Machine shuts the door, trapping Globox.
Rayman goes to an alternate route to enter the shipment room but only to reach the Horrible Machine in its defense form instead. As André calls for reinforcement, the Horrible Machind use its turret to shoot out projectiles at Rayman to protect the core. To hit the machine, Rayman powers up his fists to shoot a charged through at its aim signal until its meter reaches the top, giving eamage to it and signaling an alarm that summons a squad of Hoodlums it picks and will repeat a few times its meter goes on top. The Horrible Machine was eventually defeated and André was upset by this outcome, but managed to set it to a self-destruct sequence, following its order posthumously and flowing the base with lava.
As Rayman makes his way to escape the headquarters to reach a nearby plank, the Horrible Machine overheats and explodes destroying the base and killing many Hoodlums, leaving only Rayman, Globox, André and a surviving portion of many Hoodlums to survive the destruction.
Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge
While it did not make a return in the sequel, it would give legacy to a new Hoodlum AI known as the Infernal Machine which was a machine created by the Hoodlums to serve as a factory unit to create many plum juice to empower and reincarnate Reflux using Globox's body under possession of André. Rayman finds the Infernal Machine as it uses its faucet component to shoot plums at Rayman with plums, similar to how the Horrible Machine use its turret to shoot at him to protect its core form. Just like the Horrible Machine, the Infernal Machine gets terminated when all of its components get desttoyed by Rayman.
