Keene was the Head of Security of Wellston, up until his actions against Authorities forced him to flee alongside Vaughn.[1] He is friends with Darren.
Appearance
Keene has fair skin, parted beige hair, blue eyes, and wears black, circular spectacles. When he uses his ability, his eyes shine white.
Personality
As the head of security of Wellston, Keene's main concern is to keep the school and its students safe; he worries when there are potential dangers to both. He is not above life's simple pleasures, such as friendly wagers.[2] He is usually calm, and even amicable to his colleagues, particularly Darren. In spite of being a high-tier, Keene presents himself in public as a pacifist, preferring to settle disputes without violence. He is respectful to his superiors, particularly Vaughn. He's also kind of a troll, delighting in doing things that he knows will get on others' nerves.
Beneath Keene's professional yet mischievous demeanor lies a volatile secret. He is a late-bloomer, and he had a rough transition into high-tier status, much like John. He learned that power was to be exercised without mercy or restraint. With the help of a surprisingly compassionate readjustment instructor, Vaughn, he managed grow into an adult who knows the value of showing restraint. This doesn't mean that he can't still be provoked into regressing into the terror he once was, though his fuse is nowhere near as short as John's. His resolve to get his way, on the other hand, is equal to the Shadow King's.
History
Like John, Keene is a late-bloomer, whose ability manifested at a later age compared to his peers. Because of this, he is unable to handle suddenly becoming a high-tier. He violently lashed out at everyone who previously wronged him, which landed him in Juvenile Department. There, Victor took care of him as his instructor. The man guided him on how to manage his ability and emotion alongside it.
After Victor resigned from his position, Keene was adopted by him. His teachings gave such a lasting impression on the young man, who considered him as a father figure of sort. Nothing much is known during this period of exile.
Ten years later, Victor adapted a new identity, going out into the world as Vaughn. He quickly rose in the educational world and charmed his peers, to the point no one ever questioned his mysterious past. He eventually became the new Headmaster of Wellston, with Keene being employed as the Head of Security.
Powers & Abilities
Minefield: Keene's ability allows him to discretely turn a large area around himself into a battlefield where he can willfully detonate the ground on which he and his enemies stand.
The offensive capabilities of Minefield were kept secret for nearly six years, during which all that was known about it were its sensory and gauging properties.[3] Keene also shows enhanced physical strength.

- He was first mentioned by Darren in Chapter 6.
- The name "Keene" can either mean proud/brave or ancient and legendary. Which incidentally fits him following his actions near the end of Season 2.
- It also can refer to keen eyesight. Not as good a fit for someone who wears glasses.
