Gerda is rescued from a giant by Mash and Ritsuka, she assumes they’re envoys and then takes them to her village where she gives them hospitality. After Chaledea learns of how life in the village works, she is confused by their sadness and inquires and assumes she said something wrong. When Valkyrie envoys come to take the adults away, she mildly protests when Mash tries to fight them before Napoleon arrives.
Some time later, Chaldea returns with Brynhildr whom Gerda assumes is another envoy. After the death of Surtr and the destruction of the Fantasy Tree Sombrero, Gerda wonders where Chaldea went off to. She begins to subconsciously miss them, not knowing why she is sad. Ignoring Skadi’s orders to stay inside and sleep, Gerda goes outside and tries to imitate Fou’s hopping. She is in mid hop when the Lostbelt vanishes, disappearing before she even touched the ground.
