BiscioneWP (ビショーネWP, Bishōne?), Class Name Lancer (ランサー, Ransā?), is a Lancer-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru during the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile
Identity
The Biscione is a large serpent that represents the Duchy of MilanWP, ItalyWP on its coat of arms. A folktale says that there was once a large serpent or dragon, also named Biscione, that ate people living near that region of Italy. It is as described as legless, with wings, and wearing a crown on its head. The Biscione was defeated by a knight who was an ancestor of the ViscontiWP family who would go on to become the dukes of Milan, and its image was later adopted as the crest of the Duchy of Milan.
"I-I don't want to get defeated anymore! My goal is a safe, secure, and stable life! In other words, I would like to work for your company! I'm looking forward to the interview!"
Though it is known as the "Biscione", some sources refer to it as "GuivreWP". It is said to be the same type of dragon as the "Vouivre", which is called by different names in other parts of Europe. Interestingly, one weakness attributed to it is a fear of "naked men." Upon seeing an unclothed man, it is said to blush and flee. It is believed that Vouivres are exclusively female, and they are sometimes depicted as a race of half-dragon, half-human beings. One theory claims their eyes are akin to red gemstones.
The Servant Biscione came into being as a collective entity embodying the concept of "dragons that appear in stories" found in numerous European folklore traditions. (The "dragons" here refer to beings occupying a role similar to "characters in a story," rather than the dragons as defined in the world of magecraft as phantasmal species, so their nature may differ.)
Fundamentally, she is not a renowned dragon with a name. Instead, she represents the collective thoughts and feelings of nameless dragons—those that appear in legends but lack individual names, often serving as the "designated victim."— These sentiments gathered around a similar dragon which was the Biscione of Milan, forming a single Spirit Origin.
As a result, while she externally behaves based on the characteristics, ecology, and preferences of the Biscione, she doesn’t possess a fixed form or set of traits at her core and instead contains countless possibilities. This has left Biscione herself with a “vague sense of anxiety.” However, this also proves that she embodies "the possibilities of dragons" as well as "the dragon of possibilities."
In her Third Ascension, she becomes aware of her identity as a "dragon of possibilities" and shifts her existence to align with the most powerful concept she can connect to—the circular serpent, OuroborosWP. While the Ouroboros is not of the Dragon Kind in the traditional sense, it represents philosophical ideals such as perfection, eternity, and infinity, making it the strongest image she can embody.
Additionally, by recognizing that she is shaped by the "fantasy of dragons," she gains the ability to consciously activate elements of various dragons from other legends and shift her form into those as she fights.[2]
Appearance
Personality
She's timid and her confidence is lacking. Though she cannot put it into words, she harbors a vague sense of anxiety and powerlessness from being the “designated victim." However, she has an inner strength that allows her to face forward in the end. Her motivation and wish are for "a safe, secure, and stable life."
She wants to eat peacefully and hibernate safely. To achieve this she needs...a stable job? Having been summoned as a Servant, she believes herself to not be a renowned dragon, just an insignificant being, nothing more. Even so, she feels she must persevere for the sake of her secure future.
To find the protection of something large and stable, which means that she must find employment and get hired. But how can she market herself? What value does she have to offer? If she cannot prove herself, she will (inevitably) perish... Oh no…! In short, as a Servant, she is in the mindset of a "stressed job-hunting student."[2]
