The Crew 2 is an online-only open world racing game developed by Ivory Tower, published by Ubisoft and is the second main title in the series. The Crew 2 acts as an indirect sequel to The Crew which released in December 2014. The Crew 2 is succeeded by The Crew Motorfest.
The game was announced in May 2017 and officially revealed at E3 2017. Originally the game was scheduled to release on March 16, 2018 but was delayed and instead push to release on June 26, 2018 for Gold Edition pre-order and June 29, 2018 for the Standard Edition.
The game features a nonlinear story that follows the unnamed player character as they work to become a racing icon in Motornation by winning in all the racing disciplines. There are four major disciplines in which the player gets involved in: Street Racing, Off-Road, Freestyle and Pro Racing.
Players who have an active subscription to Ubisoft+ will have access to the full game along with Gold Edition.
Gameplay

The Crew 2 features more of a motorsport-focused racing environment and almost entirely moves away from the illegal street racing scene present in the first game. The game takes place on the same map of United States from the first game with many geographical differences. The Crew 2 features multiple vehicles including cars, but expands into other types including planes, motorcycles, and boats. Each vehicle type has its own physics and controls, making them unique in their gameplay. Players can switch between the vehicle types quickly and easily using the Fast Fav feature. Progression is measured through a system called Status which oversees the player's level of fame through followers gained.
FreeDrive
- Main article: FreeDrive
Players can explore the country freely in FreeDrive. Various activities such as events and skills can be activated whilst in FreeDrive. Players earn followers which adds to their status level for doing various styles of driving and flying which is banked once the player's score gain ends without being interrupted. LIVE crates are scattered throughout the map and players awarded with performance parts depending on the rarity of the box found.
Activities
The Crew 2 offers various activites for the player to compete in ranging from events to skills. Each event is tailored to a specific discipline and requires vehicles of that required discipline while skills are loosely connected to its motorsport family and can be completed using vehicles from other families/disciplines.
