
Ubisoft Entertainment SA, also known simply as Ubisoft and formerly as Ubi Soft Entertainment SA, is a French video game publisher known for many game franchises which includes The Crew. As of 2021, Ubisoft has over 20,000 employees and over 45 studios making it feature the largest in-house development team.
In 1986, The Guillemot brothers (Christian, Claude, Gérard, Michel, and Yves) founded Ubisoft which at the time was known as Ubi Soft. Their first titles published include Zombi, Ciné Clap, Fer et Flamme, Masque, and Graphic City. Through the late 1990s and mid 2010s, Ubisoft grew in size publishing many games and opening studios worldwide including Gameloft founded by Michel Guillemot.
Ubisoft uses Ubisoft Connect, formerly known as Uplay, as its digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications service and is available across a wide variety of gaming platforms.
