FreeDrive

   

FreeDrive is a game mode featured throughout the series that allows the player to explore the game's map freely.

Players can roam around the game's map with any available vehicle they own and can interact with other online players.

The Crew

When a player is freedriving in The Crew, they are awarded bucks for performing various actions while freedriving with a multiplier increasing as they go. The bucks gain is banked once a certain timeframe has passed since the player last performed any valid action. The bucks gain is lost if the player uses back on track or the crash camera is triggered.

Activites

Various activites can be started by the player such as events, skills and getaway. Skills can be activated by driving through the skill's starting gate. Getaway is initiated when the player fills the police watch bar and is engaged in a pursuit. Contraband crates are scattered across the map and can be picked up by players using any vehicle excluding police vehicles. Other online players can join in on ongoing pursuits by accepting a chase invitation when the prompt appears.

The Crew 2

When a player is freedriving in The Crew 2, they are awarded followers for performing various actions. The followers are banked once a certain timeframe has passed since the player last performed any valid action. The followers gain is lost if back on track is used or the vehicle is reset through other means.

Activites

Various activites can be started by the player such as events, skills, and photo ops. Players can access the events by driving up to an event gate that opens when their vehicle is within a close range. Skills are accessed by driving through its circle ring with a valid vehicle. Hobbies makes use of FreeDrive by allowing players to collect stars for completing various tasks while roaming around. FreeDrive plays a role in the Stories mode which requires players to use the clues given to find the point of interest. A few MotorPass daily missions also make use of FreeDrive by requiring the player to complete skills and a contractor mission for MotorStars.

Highlights

Various highlight records can be set throughout the map with ground vehicle, water vehicle, and air vehicle being the 3 major categories. The highlights are further separated by scope and type. The types include Player where the player can set personal records, Friends where the player can go up against highlights set by their friend, and World where the player can go up against every player on its respective platform. Speed records display how fast a player has traveled in the area. Drift records display the longest distance the player has drifted in the area. Jump records display the farthest distance a player has jumped in their vehicle.

LIVE Crate

Main article: LIVE Crate

LIVE crates are scattered throughout the map and rewards various items such as performance parts and/or visual parts to the player once they find and open them. The crate's loot is dictated by the rarity of the crate found which ranges from Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. LIVE crates appear in the same spot at different times of the in-game weather cycle although the exact timing is unknown.

The Crew Motorfest

When a player is freedriving in The Crew Motorfest, they are awarded with experience for performing various actions. The experience gain is banked once a certain timeframe has passed since the player last performed any valid action. The experience gain is lost if the player uses rewind, back on track, or the crash camera is triggered.

Activities

Various activites can be started by the player such as events, feats, and photo ops. Players can access the events by driving up to an event's portal/container which activates when the vehicle comes to a complete stop in the portal's circle. Similar to skills in The Crew 2, feats are accessed by driving through its circle ring with a valid vehicle. Some challenges can also be completed in FreeDrive which range from using specific vehicles to partake in certain tasks to finding collectibles through the island. The ghost of AI vehicles with the exception of boats can also be seen driving down various roadways and are visible on the main map view.

Treasure

Similar to LIVE Crates in The Crew 2, treasure is scattered throughout the map and rewards various items such as performance parts and/or visual parts to the player once they find and open them. The treasure's loot is dictated by the rarity of the crate found which ranges from Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Treasure appears in the same spot at different times of the in-game weather cycle although the exact timing is unknown.
