Buffalo (バッファロー Baffarō) is an archetypical unused colossus, its name first discovered in the data sheets.
Description
While impossible to determine its appearance, the available textures of it are the same used on the first in-game model of the 2nd colossus.
Buffalo has animations, controls and sounds reused from Agro. Its functions make it seem like a small and fast type colossus similar to Sirius, the 11th, and 14th colossi; and likely the first small boss that was ever created, as it still used assets from Agro. The control modes original japanese names and translations are listed below:
- バッファローフィールド = Buffalo Field
Buffalo Walking
Buffalo Slow Walking
Buffalo Fast Run
Buffalo Jump
Buffalo Tumble
Buffalo's Neck Gets Caught
The neck getting caught control is the only one not in the Agro control sheets.
Overall, great focus seems to be placed in the boss being able to fall down a cliff, wall or slope; such as the motions referenced by the neck getting caught control sheet being: "Floor Slope (Large)", "Falling from the wall (upward) [low]" and "Falling (Running)".
Trivia
- Buffalo is the sheet-only colossus with the most information out of any of them, likely because it mostly used things from Agro, being present in the final game.
- Most of its animations have the name "uma" (horse) in them. And most of them have names from the ones that Agro uses. The only animations that don't have "uma" in their name and don't seem to be reused are: "struggle", "break" and "nobreak".
- Its Motionkind sheet also references sound effects from Agro.
- Buffalo is mentioned in a specification of the 11th colossus, with the text "獅子舞+バッファロー+装甲", which translates to "lion dance + buffalo + armour-clad". It possibly suggests that some element of Buffalo got integrated into the 11th.
