GIANT is the second Japanese studio album by South Korean boy group Stray Kids. It was released on November 13, 2024 with "GIANT" serving as the title track.
The physical release comes in one standard version (Regular), two limited versions (A and B), and eight member-specific versions (FANCLUB).
Background
The album was announced with a teaser image and the text "KING GIANT" on September 30 by Stray Kids' Japan twitter account, followed by the digital cover and the official announcement.[1]
The album includes the songs "NIGHT" and "Falling Up" which serve as the opening and ending themes for the anime Tower of God: WORKSHOP BATTLE. They were pre-released as digital singles on October 7, along their English versions.
A collaboration with JR Tokai (Japan's railway company) took place between November 8 and December 27, with vocal messages and posters advertizing the album being set up in train stations along the Tokaido Shinkansen.[2]
Composition
“ | This new album comes nearly 1 year and 9 months after their first Japanese studio album, THE SOUND, in February of last year, sparking excitement among fans. It includes 10 tracks, such as the title track "GIANT", a Japanese version of the mini album ATE's title track Chk Chk Boom, the themes "NIGHT" and "Falling Up" from the second season of the anime Tower of God, "WHY?" (the theme song for Fuji TV's Thursday drama Re: Revenge - At the End of Desire -), as well as new songs "Saiyan and "love is painful", and Stray Kids' first-ever Japanese year-end song "Christmas Love". GIANT is an album that expresses inner strength, with the title track highlighting Stray Kids' unique grand and powerful sound. The track was crafted with the musical input of Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN from their production unit 3RACHA, further embedding their distinct musical style. | ” |
