The unit was formed by three JYP Entertainment trainees in 2016. 3RACHA released their first mixtape on January 18, 2017 on SoundCloud and Youtube, and communicated about it on Korean community HIPHOPLE. They announced that they would release a mixtape every two weeks, consisting of one original track, and one cover on an existing sample.[1]
On April 26, 2017, they uploaded their first mixtape extended play, J:/2017/mixtape.
Starting from May 10, they uploaded new biweekly mixtapes under the same format of one original track and one cover track.
On July 2, they performed three of their songs, "ID:a", "Don't Touch Me" and "Runner's High" at their first underground show, The Ugly Junction Live in Seoul.[2]
On August 16, they uploaded their second mixtape extended play 3Days.
On December 20, they uploaded their third mixtape extended play, Horizon.
On January 18, 2018, they released a special single, "Start Line", to celebrate their first year as a crew.
2018-present: 3RACHA of Stray Kids
On March 25, 2018, 3RACHA debuted with Stray Kids and remained as an unit, commonly known as the producer unit. Since debut, they are in charge of the vast majority of the group's songwriting, composing and producing.
On September 9, 2018, they released a music video for their first song since debut, "ZONE", as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series showcasing the group's sub-units.
In May 2019, while Stray Kids flew back to South Korea after completing the North American leg of the showcase tour "I am...", 3RACHA stayed a week more in Los Angeles to meet with local producers[3], resulting in songs released later ("Double Knot", "Sunshine", "Easy", ...) and potentially other unreleased songs.
On January 18, 2020, they released the single "Carpe Diem" to celebrate their third year as a crew.
In February 2020, while Stray Kids flew back to South Korea after completing the North American leg of the world tour "District 9 : Unlock", 3RACHA once again stayed a couple of days more in Los Angeles to meet with local producers. This resulted in about ten songs ("THE SOUND"...) some of which may be unreleased.[4]
On September 4, 2021, 3RACHA appeared on Episode 14 of the JYPE x Mnet survival show LOUD. They performed a remix version of "Back Door" in a collaboration stage with JYPE's trainees. This marks their first appearance as senior artists.
On February 21, 2022, they featured on the single "JUST BREATHE" released by Japanese rapper SKY-HI.
On September 20, 2022, they released the participation song "HEYDAY" for the soundtrack compilation Street Man Fighter Original Vol.4 (Crew Songs).
On February 3, 2023, all three members of 3RACHA were promoted as regular board members of KOMCA, Korea's music copyright association, thanks to their substantial music credits and royalties income.[5]
On September 12, 2023, they appeared as guest judges on Street Woman Fighter 2 for the "JYPE K-pop Death Match" mission. They voted for BEBE over TSUBAKILL.
On September 23, 2023, following Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin's minor car accident, 3RACHA were sent to perform at the Global Citizen Festival in place of the full group. While in New York, they attended a song camp which would result in the single Lose My Breath (feat. Charlie Puth) released in May 2024.[6]
On December 8, 2023, they appeared as special judges in the "Final Stages" episode of Nizi Project Season 2.[7]
