The Yeti (イエティ, Ieti^?) is a type of creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a species of creatures that inhabit the arctic regions of the Lost Hex.

Description

Anatomy

The Yeti are white-furred creatures with pine green skin and egg-shaped bodies. They are mostly covered in fur, except on their feet, arms and mouth. Their legs are extremely stubby with two toes and black claws, and their arms are surprisingly small with only two digits. The top of their heads and their faces are covered in fuzzy fur, except for their mouths which have purple lips and sharp teeth.

Yetis are show to come in different sizes. The smallest (which appear to be children) are a few centimeters taller than Sonic the Hedgehog, while the biggest are two-three times larger than that.

Characteristics and culture

The smallest Yetis' only interest seems to be sleeping and tend to wail when they are awoken. However, the largest Yetis are short-tempered and quite aggressive, charging into any intruders they may spot.

The Yetis have surprisingly soft bodies that can bounce back whatever physical blows they may receive.

Game appearances

Sonic Lost World

The Yetis made their first appearance in the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World. In this game, they only appear in Frozen Factory Zone 2.

In gameplay, the Yeti serve as gimmicks/obstacles to the player. Whenever Sonic collides with a Yeti, it bounces him back, similar to a Bumper. This can both be an advantage or an issue to the player, as Sonic can both bounce between Yetis for an easier route (if done correctly) or get unintentionally pushed off the Zone's narrow roads.

Smaller Yetis are unmovable and stationary creatures that sleep peacefully until Sonic collides with them. However, larger Yetis will become enraged and turn red when they spot Sonic and will actively pursue him to bounce him off the road. After colliding with him though, these large Yetis will bounce back and disappear from sight.

Sonic Runners

In Sonic Runners, the Yeti appears as a Rare Speed Type buddy that triggers the Cyan Laser effect for every certain number of combos. There is also a variant buddy of the Yeti called the "Christmas Yeti" which is a Power Type and boosts the bonus score when combos are performed. Both buddies could only be obtained during the 2015 "Christmas Event."
