Jump Step

The Jump Step is a move used by Blaze the Cat. It is one of Blaze's Trick Actions that first appeared in Sonic Rush and later reappeared in its sequel Sonic Rush Adventure. It is the equivalent to Sonic the Hedgehog's Humming Top. When using this move, Blaze thrusts herself forward covering a wide range in mid air.

Description

When performing Jump Step, Blaze uses her pyrokinesis while in mid-air to release a burst of flames that propels her forward at incredible speed, granting her limited horizontal flight. Until she lands on a solid surface, Blaze sticks one of her hands out in front while leaving a small trail of fire.

To perform the Jump Step in gameplay, the player must first have Blaze launched into the air through gimmicks such as Springs, Jump Panels, etc. While launched into the air, the player has to press to execute the Jump Step. To select a horizontal direction for the Jump Step, the player has to press while holding down either right or left on . If the player presses without selecting a direction, the Jump Step will launch Blaze in the direction she is facing.

Unlike the Humming Top, the Jump Step does not damage enemies in Blaze's path. However, it can still break down any breakable barriers and covers more range than the Humming Top. In Sonic Rush Adventure, the Jump Step also acts as a combo finisher when several Trick Actions have been performed.
