- "Nobody knows the color of her eyes! Talk smack, and she'll rearrange your back! SHERMIE."
Shermie (シェルミー) is a character in The King of Fighters series. She debuted in The King of Fighters '97 as a member of the Orochi Team (temporarily under the disguised team name, "New Faces Team" in KOF '97).[2][3] She is one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Orochi who is the dark counterpart to Benimaru Nikaido.
Aside from the main body of The King of Fighters series, Shermie also stars in her own character image album. Her official nickname is "Roaring Lightning" (とどろく
Development
Shermie and her teammates were created to offset the remaining top three characters. [5] It's stated on her KOF 10th anniversary profile that she was based on the character Fujiko Mine from the manga/anime series Lupin the Third. The developer states that the design for Shermie was easily decided on, given that her long bangs never revealed her eyes. They would go onto calling her Tesse from Waku Waku 7 at one time.[6]
Personality
Shermie is a lively and outgoing girl, though she harbors a degree of cynicism toward society, which she often dismisses as "stupid" when it falls outside her interests or profession. She approaches battles with a playful attitude, frequently dancing and even answering her cellphone mid-fight. Before a match, she playfully blows a kiss toward male opponents she finds attractive. Her dislike for noisy individuals is evident in her special introduction with Brian Battler in KOF '98 UM. Shermie has a fondness for hamsters and keeps two as pets—a male named Achu (あちゅ) and a female named Ururi (うるり).
Though her long bangs obscure her eyes, it is said they hide a chilling glare filled with murderous intent.[6] Despite her disdain for much of human society, Shermie enjoys her life as a fashion designer and prefers the company of individuals who share her interests or capture her attention.[7]
In her non-canonical appearances, Shermie occasionally shows awareness of her Orochi heritage, which is sometimes reflected in her quotes. While she is not openly antagonistic in these instances, she can still be manipulative, ruthless, and even murderous when provoked—especially when dealing with certain individuals like perverted men (e.g., Kukri) or, to a lesser extent, Brian Battler.
When Shermie was revived, she retained her Orochi heritage. Like the other Heavenly Kings, she still takes her role seriously, though it is no longer her top priority. Balancing her subtle disdain for humanity with practicality, she focuses only on those who prove useful to her goals or career. However, Shermie can become fiercely protective of her pets when they are threatened, sometimes reacting in ways that verge on humorously exaggerated extremes.

Fighting Style
When not using her Orochi powers, Shermie relies on grappling as her combat style, drawing from Puroresu. She is also quite agile and some of her moves resemble gymnastics. She performs a variety of body slams, most involving acrobatic moves, some counter throws and a few face-sitting throws. Her grappling gameplay is further improved in KOF '98 and further expanded in KOF 2002. In Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, Shermie uses a few moves that incorporate her Orochi power.
