Day 81 took place on 10 February 2020. It followed the events of Day 80 and was followed by the events of Day 82. It was also CaptainSparklez's birthday!
Despite the admins' previous announcements, several players discovered that the faction claim plugin had apparently been fixed since its reset on Day 76.
Players were able to create factions and claim lands again, all previous faction claims had not been reinstated on the server.
Fruitberries created a temporary faction called Baby and disbanded it several minutes later.
KotiePlayz, a member of Alaska, reinstated Tubbo's faction, Gamboje in an attempt to extort 100 diamonds from him. He also claimed some territory for the faction in British Columbia.
Tubbo did not comply with the demands and created Gambojeistan instead.
TommyInnit tried to reestablish Business Bay, but the faction plugin didn't allow him to give it a name with more than 10 characters.
He resorted to rename it as BizBay with the description Formally Business Bay.
Fruitberries, in response, created a new one called tommysux but disbanded it within seconds.
Tommy then decided to rename it from BizBay to BB, but the scuffed plugin rejected his request due to being shorter than 3 characters. He changed the name to BusBay.
He made a final change to the faction name, settling on BusinesBay (with only one ’s’ at the end) due to a suggestion from one of his chat moderators
He successfully allied with both Bosnia and Bean Empire.
Later, the SMPEarth Dynmap crashed at approximately 5:50 PM EST. When it returned at approximately 5:59 PM, all claims had disappeared again.
Again, Krinios managed to reestablish the Bean Empire and reclaimed the chunk on Bean Island.
WardenToons reestablished her faction, Zootopia, and reclaimed her lands in northern Canada.
Wuna301 noticed that Warden had also claimed over his base at Lake Woody.
When asked about this situation, Warden explained that she only meant to claim the borders/wall around the lake, but the autoclaim had filled in the chunks.
Chip stepped in and agreed to help both of them draw their factions' borders.
Wuna reestablished Packle and began to fill in his claims on the lake, while Warden claimed the surrounding area in such a way that it did not overclaim.
Quig established a faction called TwitchPrime replacing his previous faction of Kwig.
He mentioned that the admins advised that all factions would need to be manually reclaimed. This meant that several factions, especially ones in Europe, could become defunct due to their inactivity.
Grunk reestablished Log Lagoon and reclaimed his faction's lands, including the Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Ice Race Track.
Michaelmcchill and Wuna then reclaimed the Packle territory of northern California.
Eret reclaimed all of the New Hawaiian territories and renamed the faction as Ursus.
Eret did not reclaim the portion of Krakahumungus that he claimed on Day 55. He did mention that he still intends to purchase the entire volcano from Kwite.
Due to the faction data corruption that caused the Fourth Faction Reset, Chip announced that 13 February (at 12 pm - 6 pm CST / 6 pm - 12 am GMT) and 14 February (9 am - 1 pm CST / 3 pm - 7 pm GMT) are designated as Reclaiming Day for players to reclaim their factions' territories and colonies on the server.
Tim was defensive and refused to give his valuables to Tommy.
Tommy ended up attacking him, but Tim managed to combat log twice and avoid death.
Eventually, Tommy managed to kill him but decided to return all of his items.
He did, however, swap his enchanted Power IV bow (that he stole from Technoblade) with Tim's enchanted Power IV and Punch II bow, giving Tim the former.
Tommy felt bad for the robbery and the unexpected reaction, so he established an alliance between their factions.
Initially, Tommy was wary of Fruit due to his reputation as a trap builder, and so held him at gunpoint. However, after learning that Fruit had killed Tubbo, he instantly allied with his faction, Funnydog.
Tommy then gave him a tour of Business Bay. Fruit offered to return the favor with a tour of his own base as well, but Tommy refused it.
Eret, while claiming his faction's territories and colonies, seized the opportunity of being in spectator mode and took pictures of various landmarks across the globe.
Due to his immense contribution, he has been officially referred by the wiki team as the "SMPEarth Photographer".

RedVacktor attempted to remake the Hawaiian Archipelago.
He was caught red-handed by Eret, the architect of The Hawaiian Heist, who began to spectate his stream and inquired his business on lands owned by Ursus.
Eret then allowed him to build a fake island there with a single palm tree as a compromise, since all genuine Hawaiian lands have been transferred to Ursus City to be sold/exhibited in the future Hawaiian Museum there.
On Day 81, the DEFCON level was 3, because of RedVacktor's invasion on Eret's sovereignty. Wuna301 and WardenToons also had a minor altercation over land claims.
