"Toss out money bags and sake bottles alike into the enemy lines to cause chaos."

Danzaburou is one of the playable Gods in SMITE.

Lore

Among the tanuki of Sado Island, one name is known above all others – that of Danzaburou. The supreme commander of all tanuki is infamous for his antics and his tricks are justly feared by mortal and immortal alike.

A shape-shifter and trickster without equal, Danzaburou has never met a prank he would not pull. While these are mostly for his own amusement, he has been known to act on behalf of others, so long as he finds it entertaining. Even so, like all tanuki, he lives to cause trouble, and relishes every opportunity to show off his cleverness, as well as his capacity to cause havoc.

Nowhere is this more evident than on the battlefield, where Danzaburou surrounds himself in chaos and confusion. He fights with great cunning. When not dodging his opponent's attacks, or leaving a statue in his place to absorb the brunt of their wrath, he's hiding in plain sight, waiting for his moment to strike. To say that Danzaburou is a frustrating opponent is an understatement.

But Danzaburou brings more than just frustration – he is also a purveyor of good fortune. Jug of sake in one hand, and a promissory note in the other, the tanuki offers his opponents a drink and payment even as he plans his next trick or three. With his sly grin and big belly, the cheerful tanuki can turn even the staunchest of his foes into a friend – at least for as long as it takes to get to the bottom of a jug of sake.

It is said that Danzaburou has been outwitted only once, by a human peasant. Ever since, the tanuki has refrained from playing tricks on hapless humans. Instead, he reserves his best pranks for what he considers to be a less perceptive audience...

Namely, the gods themselves.

Abilities

Passive - Dubious Savings
Every time Danzaburou actively gains gold, he stores 10% into one of his money pouches instead. When a pouch is completely filled, Danzaburou gains bonus gold and a permanent Physical Power increase before switching to a larger money pouch. Notes:
Requires a total of 720 Gold and gives a total of 1,295 Gold as well as 40 Physical Power.
Pouch Thresholds: 80/140/200/300 Gold   Bonus Power: 10 per pouch
Bonus Gold: 180/265/350/500   Ability Type: Buff
1st Ability - Fool’s Gold
Danzaburou rolls out 3 money bags that pass through and damage Enemy minions but stop on Enemy gods, slowing as they travel. Gods hit are damaged and Intoxicated, dropping a gold coin that Danzaburou or his ally gods can pick up to provide him 10 gold.

When a money bag stops moving, it reveals to be an explosive which detonates after a short delay. Subsequent hits of the money bag or explosions deal 15% damage.

Notes:
The bags have a delay time of 1s before exploding, can bounce off walls up to 2 times and the coins last up to 8s.
Each initial bag and explosion that hits an enemy deals 125/200/275/350/425 (+105% of your Physical Power) damage and 19/30/41/52.5/64 (+16% of your Physical Power) damage on subsequent hits/explosions and dealing up to 163/260/357/455/553 (+137% of your Physical Power) damage if all 3 bags/explosions hit the same target and provides up to 30 gold to Danzaburou/allies.
Intoxications from multiple bags do not stack in duration.
Damage: 95/145/195/245/295 (+75% of your Physical Power)   Explosion Damage: 30/55/80/105/130 (+30% of your Physical Power)
Intoxicate Duration: 0.6/0.8/1/1.2/1.4s   Ability Type: Line, Intoxicate, Damage
  Range/Radius: 70/12   Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana
  Cooldown: 12 seconds
2nd Ability - Alluring Spirits
Danzaburou takes a swig of his sake bottle, gaining health, before hurling it in front of him dealing damage to Enemies in the inner circle. Jungle Camps take an extra+40% damage.

The bottle of sake applies stacks to Enemy gods in the area slowing, and upon reaching 3 stacks, taunting (with no DR) them towards the sake bottle. Enemies that take more than 30% of their max. Health while taunted are broken out early.

Notes:
Deals 112/182/252/322/402 (+98% of your Physical Power) damage to jungle minions.
Has a damage radius of 13.
Slows up to 30% (stacks every .33s) and the sake bottle can last up to 4s.
Healing: 40/65/90/115/140   Damage: 90/140/190/240/290 (+70% of your Physical Power)
Slow per stack: 10% for 1.5s (3 stacks max.)   Taunt Duration: 1s
Hits to Break: 2/2/3/3/4   Ability Type: Circle, Crowd Control, Damage
  Range/Radius: 45/18   Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana
  Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds
3rd Ability - Tanuki Trickery
Danzaburou creates a field where he moves faster, is slow immune, takes less damage, and has no basic attack penalty. Enemies are slowed by 20%. If he leaves the field it fades turning him into a leaf with other decoys that mimic his movement. As a leaf his movement speed is increased, he is slow immune and can pass through enemies and allies. After a short delay from transforming, any hit from Enemy gods or if Danzaburou himself attacks, he will revert back. Notes:
Unlike other gods who use stealth under a structure's attack radius, if Danzaburou enters it's attack range while invisible, he will not be revealed.
Movement Speed: 20%   Leaf Movement Speed: 30/32.5/35/37.5/40%
Reduced Damage: 15%   Field Duration: 5s
Leaf Duration: 4s   Ability Type: Circle, Buff
  Radius: 24   Cost: 70 mana
  Cooldown: 16 seconds
Ultimate - Uproarious Rocket
Danzaburou summons a magical leaf which transforms into a large bamboo rocket! While preparing, Danzaburou can aim the rocket within 180 degrees to lock onto Enemy gods or he can refire this ability to become the rocket, also becoming damage immune.

Once fired the Rocket will pass through and damage Enemy minions, stopping on the first Enemy god hit damaging and stunning them while dealing 75% damage in a larger area.

Notes:
Danzaburou is immune to crowd control during the prefire while having an increased turn radius and 50% Speed after refiring (up to 5s) within 1.5s before automatically firing.
Deals 225/270/315/360/405 (+75% of your Physical Power) damage to enemies in the AoE.
Damage: 300/360/420/480/540 (+100% of your Physical Power)   Stun Duration: 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4s
Ability Type: Line, Crowd Control, Damage   Range/Radius: 120/30
Cost: 100 mana   Cooldown: 100 seconds

Trivia

General

  • Danzaburou was the last god release in 2020.
  • Danzaburou was the last god released in Season 7.
  • The sake bottles that are hanging around Danzaburou's waist are an allusion to how Tanukis in their myths are depicted with large testicles.
  • One of Danzaburou's Jokes, ▶️ "Do not compare me to a kitsune! We Tanuki are the best, don't you forget it!" is a reference to how tanuki hate kitsune.
  • One of Danzaburou's other jokes, ▶️ "I once hid as a tea pot, but someone took me and locked me away for a year. Never again." is a reference to the tale of Bunbuku Chagama, which tells of how at a temple called Morin-ji [ja] in Kōzuke Province (now Gunma Prefecture), the master priest (abbot) owns a chagama (tea kettle). When the priest sets the kettle on a hearth, the kettle sprouts a head and a tail (or legs as well), and turns into a half-badger, half tea-kettle creature.
