Cara Liss is a character appearing in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. She is a strange woman that can be found on Route 6 in the Galar region. She's able to use a strange machine to revive Fossils and turn them into artificial hybrid fossil Pokémon, serving as the replacement for the high-tech labs that appeared in previous games.
Appearance

Cara Liss is a small woman that has slightly tan skin, short black hair cut into a bob, and strange black eyes with white pupils. Despite being a researcher, she has a very unkempt and disheveled appearance, with mud covering her face, hands, and clothes. For clothing, she wears a mud-covered lab coat, a black shirt, and muddy dark blue jeans. She also wears mismatching footwear consisting of a muddy red shoe on her right foot and a blue sock and a muddy yellow shoe on her left.
Personality
She is very lazy and has a strange, eccentric personality. She sometimes refers to herself in third person and has a verbal tic, often saying the word "huh" at the end of her sentences. She also has a shady and sinister side, as evidenced by her attitude when reviving fossils. However, despite her laziness, Cara Liss claims to have "high standards."
Biography
Cara Liss can be found on Route 6 in Galar. She has a revival machine that can bring Fossil Pokémon found in Galar back to life. She requires two Fossils to be revived at once, one of each of the head and body Fossils. None of the Fossils belong to the same creature, meaning each revived Pokémon is an artificial hybrid.

Trivia
- Her name is a pun on "Careless."
- Cara Liss and the hybrid Pokémon she creates from fossils may be based on early paleontologists who would combine mismatched bones to produce new "discoveries", such as in the Bone Wars.
- Even though the fossil Pokémon clearly suffer, their Pokédex entries often give out contradictory or unsubstantiated facts about them, such as how Dracozolt was "unbeatable." This is because Cara Liss is implied to have written the entries herself.
- It's unknown if Cara Liss can revive the one fossil Pokémon separately from one fossil or combine tops halves togethers or bottom halves together.
