The Universal Com is a treasure in Pikmin 2, part of the Celestial Vibes Series. It is actually a shiny blue bead mounted on a silver-colored ring.
Appearance
Pikmin 2
The Universal Com is located on sublevel 12 of the Dream Den, completely buried in the ground, so White Pikmin are required to dig it out. Obstacles along the path of retrieving the Universal Com include falling boulders, poison emitters, some dangerous enemies, and an Antenna Beetle.
Notes
Olimar's Journal
"From the shape of it, I've concluded that this is some kind of data transmission monitor. However, Louie and the ship keep telling me that I'm way off target. I told them, "If I'm so wrong, what do you think it is? I don't see you suggesting any alternatives!" They're just being negative. I'm going with my gut feeling on this one."
Sales Pitch
"This communications monitor was found on an uncivilized planet! Sadly, it is broken and does not work. As such, its purpose cannot be confirmed. Yet...that only heightens its irresistible appeal. Reality...or misperception? Either way, you should buy it!"
Trivia
- In his notes, Olimar mentions Louie telling him that his (Olimar's) analysis of the treasure is most likely incorrect. However, the treasure is found in the Dream Den, meaning that the likelihood of Louie currently not being part of Olimar's mission when these notes are taken (as he was trapped at the same cave's lowermost sublevel at the time) is very high, calling into question how Olimar could have ever gotten that opinion from him.
