Blion and Girash first appeared in the promotional artwork for Uta no Uta: ONE PIECE FILM RED. They were included as one of the five possible collectible cards that came with the physical album, listed as the Animal Band (動物バンド?), instead of their name written in full katakana.[3]

Each band member seemingly references a real-life musician:
Blion's name may be a reference to Brian May, the lead guitarist of Queen.
Girash's name may be a reference to Slash, the lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, with whom he also shares visual elements such as a top hat and long hair.
