Sleeches are one of the new creatures introduced in Oddworld: Soulstorm, and act as the gameplay replacement for Fleeches, which they may be the adult form of. They are exclusively found within the utmost depths of Necrum, and serve as the guardians of the Eye of Fragon.
Physical Appearance
Sleeches are small, dark grey creatures with bright red eyes, a leach-like mouth divided into five sections, and long tongues with a sharp hook and the end. Their skin is rough and leathery in texture, and helps them blend in amongst the rocks and pebbles throughout the Sanctum. Sleeches bound at incredible speeds and appear blurry and somewhat ethereal in nature, although not to the same degree that a Gloktigi does when dematerialising.
Behavior
Sleeches are shy animals found living in large groups, deep underground in massive caverns. Due to being shrouded in total darkness Sleeches are sensitive to light and a brief flash from a Hand Torch or Flare is enough to scare them off, however, if Abe goes out without a light source, he will be swarmed by them. These creatures lack legs, and move by hopping. Even so they're extremely energetic and can hop along the ground at decent speeds.
Despite the dangers against a swarm of Sleeches, their droppings known as Sleech Guano contains incredible medicinal value.
