Touma

I can do more than teach. One day, I'll be a blessed vessel... and I'll be the master's best shinki.

—Touma, Chapter 23

Touma ( (とう) () Tōma?) was one of Bishamonten's Ma-clan shinki.

Appearance

Touma had the appearance of a petite girl in her early teens. She had straight-cut bangs and long, black hair that she wore in a ponytail held by a white ribbon. She wore a burgundy kimono with geta sandals and a striped, indigo obi. Her eyes were dark blue.

Personality

Touma was a dedicated and ambitious person. She was easily flattered by compliments about her loyalty to Bishamon, and demonstrated that she is a natural mentor to other shinki. She was also very kind, opting only to express her pride and support toward her fellow shinki rather than jealousy at their accomplishments.[1]

Skills & Abilities

  • Borderline ( (きょう) (かい) (せん) Kyoukai-sen?): Like all shinki, Touma could create a boundary to protect herself and others from ayakashi.
  • Vessel transformation: As Bishamonten's shinki, Touma was able to transform into a pot lid.[1]

Relationships

Bishamonten

Touma was deeply loyal to Bishamonten, to the point that her goal was to one day become a blessed vessel. Likewise, Bishamon was openly appreciative of Touma's dedication and hard work in training the new recruits. But because of Touma's ambition, she also appeared upset that she was unable to aid Bishamon in her excursions to exorcise ayakashi.[1]

Kazuma

As Kazuma's senpai, Touma was responsible for mentoring him in the ways of a shinki, including showing him how to draw borderlines and encouraging him to show greater dedication to their master. Although Touma scolded him often, Kazuma maintained a genuine respect for her as his mentor. Even while Kazuma climbed the ranks and became more and more relied upon by Bishamon, Touma never expressed disdain or jealousy toward him, instead showing pride, support, and happiness at how much he has grown as a shinki.[1]
