Vania: *huff* *pant* Ugh, I'm wiped.
Euden: We should be past their reach here. Now... Albert, Yurius. Why are you here?
Euden: You both left the Halidom in search of the seeds of the abyss.
Albert: Indeed. Our probe revealed that Phares had given seeds to a number of soldiers as part of some experiment.
Albert: We chased those rumors here, determined to put a stop to whatever he's planning.
Euden: What?! You believe my brother is trying to use Vania and the seeds to some ill end?
Albert: We don't know the specifics any better than you, but he is all but certainly plotting something, and they're involved.
Vania: Hey, what are these "seeds of the abyss"?
Yurius: An extremely dangerous breed of dragon. They are too great a force for mankind to wield. Should they try...this is the result.
Vania: Ew, what IS that?! It's all wriggly and slimy and...EWWW!
Yurius: That is the price of said hubris. The seeds feed on human mana and fuse with it. They are a cursed thing.
Albert: Now, a group of extremists within the Empire who hold the seeds seek vampire blood. The situation grows ever more grim.
Euden: And Vania will continue to be a target until we stop them.
Yurius: Exactly. Which brings me to a proposal. Will you allow us to serve as her guards?
Yurius: Doing so would help us in our quest to destroy the seeds as well. A mutually beneficial arrangement for all parties.
Euden: I agree. The information you've uncovered while tracking them will be vital to figuring out how the extremists knew about her.
Euden: But we've yet to hear the most important opinion on the matter. What say you, Vania?
Vania: Fine by me. A friend of yours is a friend of mine.

Yurius: Bonds are neither forged nor tempered intentionally.

Yurius: Bonds grow stronger on their own as you learn about, care for, and trust another. At least, that has always been my experience.
Yurius: I certainly can't recall ever attempting to intentionally strengthen my connection to the captain.
Yurius: Indeed, I even sought to sever that tie, once. But he trusted in me so thoroughly that all my designs failed... The jerk.
Vania: Hmmm... So you're saying there's not enough trust between us.
Yurius: At the very least, the softhearted prince does not yet seem to regard you as an equal.
Yurius: Rather, he seems to view you as a child— a little sister to be shielded from harm. Do you not get the same impression?
Vania: Ah...! He DID say something like that! Ugh, how many times do I have to tell him that I'M the older sibling here?!
Yurius: I suspected as much. Then your first step must be to win his respect as a peer.

Euden: What? The seeds of the abyss can be controlled using Vania's blood?
Albert: I can't speak to the truth of it, but our imperial friends certainly think so.
Yurius: Alone, those seeds are far more than man can handle, so they think to fight fire with fire. Neutralize one poison with another.
Yurius: If they COULD be controlled, the seeds would be a weapon without peer. And I say that from personal experience.
Vania: That doesn't make it okay to take a lady's blood and use it on some slimy tentacle thing. Have a little class, jeez!
Euden: Agreed. What's more, if it's solely her blood they're after, she may be as useful to them dead as alive.
Euden: I say we leave Vania in the safety of the Halidom and set out to destroy those seeds as soon as possible.
Albert: We might, if we knew their location. But our intelligence source went silent just after we learned of all this.
Albert: They probably went on high alert after learning that we've started guarding her.
Albert: It's odd—they never seemed quite so careful until now. If anything, they were hasty. Desperate.
Yurius: Hmph. Perhaps some third party stepped in to guide them. In any case, taking the initiative to strike first isn't an option.
Albert: But neither can we sit idle while they hold those seeds. It's quite the conundrum.
Vania: Is it, though? We just dangle me out there as bait and grab 'em when they show up.
Vania: However sneaky they're trying to be, they won't turn down a chance like that. Boom, easy.
Euden: Maybe so, but I don't... No. I can't allow it. The risk is too great. It's tantamount to willingly walking into their trap.

Albert: Hello to the Halidom's newest BFFs.
Vania: Uncle Sparky! You said you were off to investigate the incident. Did you finish?
Albert: We got about as far as we're able for now. And along the way, we came across a key piece of information... Yurius?
Yurius: I'll get right to the point. A portion of the seed's husk was taken from the scene. We don't know by whom, or where they went.
Vania: Seriously?! We went to all that trouble to destroy the thing, and someone swiped it?
Euden: We were distracted by our injuries at the time, but still... Escaping with the seed amid that chaos? It must've been planned.
Euden: If that's the case, though, why were they so sloppy in their execution? Did my brother know all along the seed would be destroyed?
Yurius: Most likely. However it ended, it was a useful experiment for him. After all, simply possessing the seeds poses an undeniable danger to the holder.
Yurius: If he proved able to control them, he wins; if the seed was destroyed, it still has its uses. I expect he calculated as much.
Euden: I see. Then my brother still has some sort of scheme up his considerable sleeves.
Albert: Meaning that we can't sit idly by. Yurius and I will continue to pursue the matter.
Vania: Huh. Sounds like you guys have your plates full, then.
Albert: Very. Things worked out this time around thanks to your help, but there's no telling what will happen next time.
Vania: Well... If something does come up, my bloodkin and I will make a special exception and lend you a hand.
Albert: Wait. Really?
Vania: Sure. You gave me some pretty solid advice about strengthening our bond.
Vania: Which is SUPER strong now, by the way. So yeah... Thanks. I owe you a little favor or two for that!
Albert: I don't recall giving you any advice. Did HE say something to you? ...Yurius, playing relationship counselor?
Yurius: No comment, Captain. Now, little lady, I bid you be well. I look forward to another display of the future queen's power.
Vania: It's a date! My bloodkin and I are gonna be practically attached at the hip by then, so get ready for a REAL show.
Vania: Invest in some garters now, because it's gonna blow your socks clean off. Right, bloodkin? Tell the man!
Euden: Vania speaks true. Our bond IS stronger than ever before, after all.
Vania: Yeah! So whatever comes our way, the two of us are gonna be juuust fine. Count on it!
