Ray Arrow

Ray Arrow, also known as Arrow Ray (アローレイ Arō Rei) in Japan, is the Special Weapon that X receives from defeating Infinity Mijinion in Mega Man X6.

In normal fire, X fires a large beam of light straight forward. Under normal circumstances, if the beam hits something, it will go straight up. By holding DOWN on the D-pad, X can also have the beam go straight down a wall or an object. Ray Arrow has an unusual property in that the beam will always be in the same position as X is before it strikes an object: if X jumps up while firing this weapon, it will go up with him; if X fires it while falling down or ducking, it will go down; if fired while standing still, it will simply go straight. Ray Arrow also has the ability to go through enemies. Charged up, X summons five light beams that shoot straight up from the bottom of the screen (almost resembling Zero's Rekkoha); X is also temporarily invulnerable during this time.

This weapon is the primary weakness for Commander Yammark, causing 5 units of damage with normal fire and 8 units of damage when charged. Interestingly, as a charged Ray Arrow acts as a "Giga Attack" for X, it can cause 8 units of damage to most bosses and to the Investigators as well (except Infinity Mijinion); however, Commander Yammark is the only boss that becomes stunned with this weapon.

The charged version of Ray Arrow is featured as one of the Dive Triggers in Mega Man X DiVE.
