Stack-Up

WarioWare

Stack-Up is a microgame which appears in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!. It is a part of 9-Volt's folder Nintendo Classics. The microgame is named for and based on the Nintendo Entertainment System game of the same name.

Layout

R.O.B. is shown at a diagonal angle in front of a pole with blocks on it, and a television screen reading "ROBOT BLOCK" (the Japanese name for Stack-Up) is in the background, with a Nintendo Entertainment System hooked to it. When R.O.B. grabs a block, the message on the screen changes to "OK" and R.O.B.'s eyes become yellow.

In the Japanese version, the dark gray parts of R.O.B. are red to match the colors of the Family Computer, which is also shown in the background instead of a Nintendo Entertainment System. The Japanese version depicts the word "BLOCK" as red, with a blue square on the left and right each. Consequently, because the word shares a palette with R.O.B., it was changed to gray with a black square on each side in international versions. Even though R.O.B.'s design and the system hooked to the television received localization changes, the text "ROBOT BLOCK" was not localized to the English name "STACK-UP" outside of Japan.

Gameplay

R.O.B.'s arms move up and down by themselves, and the object is to have R.O.B. grab onto one of the blocks to win the microgame. If he does not grab or unsuccessfully grabs a block, the player fails at the microgame. In Level 1, there are three blocks for R.O.B. to grab onto; in Level 2 there are two blocks; and Level 3 has only one block.
