Profile

"Rim Elm is a remote village. The Mist that covers the earth seldom reaches this far. Somehow, we have managed to survive. However, at night, the wind sometimes changes direction, and the Mist closes in on us! To protect the village from the Mist, we have built the Wall. And for more than ten years, the Wall has protected us."
- Old Man in Rim Elm
Rim Elm is one of the few places in Legaia with human survivors due to its location and the wall surrounding it. The Mist seldom reaches the village, both thanks to the distance from its source and the ocean breeze that pushes it back. When the Mist does reach the village, the Wall surrounding it prevents possible attacks from Seru roaming nearby. Despite the villagers barricading themselves inside the village, they are dependent on hunting parties venturing outside in order to prevent starvation. The dangers of the hunt have resulted in multiple deaths throughout the years.
Story
Before the Mist
Though a quaint little village in a remote part of Drake Kingdom, Rim Elm was renown for its Genesis Tree and scenery. The village was overseen by an elder, but fell under the jurisdiction of King Drake III. With news about the approaching Mist in the northern regions of Drake, Rim Elm's villagers went to work on building a wall to protect them.
The Mist Breaches Rim Elm
Rim Elm is first seen as a young boy named Vahn prepares for his first hunt outside the village. As the sun begins to set, a group of hunters return with the corpse of Mei's father Juno, who was killed by Seru while hunting. Later that night, Rim Elm is attacked by Zeto, who uses the Seru Juggernaut to destroy Rim Elm's wall and allow the Mist to enter. Vahn goes to the Genesis Tree in town, which is glowing mysteriously, and awakens the Ra-seru Meta by touching the tree. Following Meta's instructions, Vahn assembles the villagers and revives the Genesis Tree to push back the mist.
Vahn Leaves the Village
A funeral is held for Juno and the other villagers that had been killed during the Seru attack, and Vahn sets out the next day to find Mei's mother at the request of Village Elder. After various events, Mei's mother returns to Rim Elm after years of separation in the Mist. Although the goal of finding Maya is completed, Vahn is determined to rid Legaia of the Mist that covers the rest of the world.
Rim Elm Invaded Again
After destroying the final Mist Generator by defeating Cort, Vahn and his companions Noa and Gala return to Rim Elm. A short time later, a persistent foe named Songi arrives and attacks the villagers. Songi reveals that Cort is still alive and fused with Juggernaut before the Sim-Seru appears and merges with the village. Rim Elm now a mountain of pulsating flesh, Vahn and the others are forced to go after Songi in the home world of the Seru to save Rim Elm and the rest of Legaia. With newly gained power after Songi's defeat, Vahn and the others return to Rim Elm and enter Juggernaut's body, where they defeat Cort at its heart and use the remainder of their Ra-Seru power to return the village and its people to normal.
