An Item is an object that appears in the Kirby series that Kirby can interact with to trigger certain effects.

There are many types of items that can be found in the Kirby series.

• Power-ups grant a boost that makes Kirby more powerful in some way. The effects of power-ups are normally temporary and will wear off after a certain period of time, though there are exceptions. Recovery items such as food are included in this category.
• Collectible* items derive their use from the number that Kirby collects. Some collectible items are common and insignificant, while others can only be found in limited amounts and are hidden in hard-to-find areas. In most cases, an acquired collectible item will never reappear but instead be entered into a collection.
• Carry items can be picked up and held above Kirby's head. Starting in Kirby: Planet Robobot, these items can be carried underwater. When in use, Kirby can neither inhale nor float.
• Mountable* items can be ridden upon. When in use, Kirby can neither inhale nor float.
• Weapon* items can be interacted with but not carried, ridden, or collected. They attack opponents when triggered.
• Containers can be opened or broken to reveal any of the aforementioned item types listed above.
