Strawberry is a food item in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Super Star.
Games
Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra
Strawberries appear as normal food items. As with all food items that aren't Maxim Tomatos, they heal a small amount of health in any games they appear in except Gourmet Race, where they instead increase the player's score by 1 and give a speed boost.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
While strawberries don't appear as food items, in the "Desert Desserts" cutscene, Kirby hallucinates Ribbon to be a strawberry.
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Strawberries, like all other food items that aren't Energy Drinks or Maxim Tomatos, appear exclusively in Cart Run. Touching one gives Kirby a speed boost and increases his score by 20; touching one and another food item simultaneously gives Kirby a max speed boost and increases his score by 190.
Kirby's Dream Buffet
Strawberries serve as the primary scoring item. When a Kirby consumes a certain number of strawberries, said Kirby's size will increase, allowing him to roll faster but giving him less time to hover; Kirby's size increases if he consumes a total of 10, 60, 120, 200, and 300, and 500 strawberries. Kirby will become unable to hover if he reaches max size. While strawberries typically appear by themselves, they also may sometimes appear in groups.
At the end of each race are three Strawberry Mountains, each worth a certain number of strawberries: the middle one is worth 50, the left one is worth 20, and the right one is worth 10; the 50 Strawberry Mountain also appears in Free Roll. Once all three Strawberry Mountains are consumed (each player is only allowed to consume one), the race officially ends; a timer may count down if at least one is consumed but not the other two. Finish a Strawberry Mountain remarkably early will spawn strawberries to slowly fall randomly into the barriered area for a few extra points when consumed. If one of these strawberries bounce out of the barriered area, it will fall onto the table for other players to grab. When a player eats a Strawberry Mountain, strawberries will fall out of it also allowing for other players to grab.
Three-stacks of strawberries appear in some minigames with a lesser frequency than single strawberries. Three-stacks of strawberries also appear in the mix roulette that appears in Battle Royale when the player is KO'd.
Five-stacks of strawberries appear in races in generally out-of-the-way locations. Five-stacks of strawberries also appear in Battle Royale at a lesser frequency than single strawberries, as well as part of the mix roulette that appears for a player once KO'd.
Ten-stacks of strawberries (not to be confused with the 10 Strawberry Mountain) appear in the mix roulette in Battle Royale as well as in Free Roll from some Food Boxes.
Blueberries, raspberries, or cherries can sometimes replace five-stacks of strawberries in races; these fruits are only worth one strawberry, but in Gourmet Grand Prix, there is a potential bonus given to the player(s) who ate the most of one of these fruits; this bonus is worth 40 strawberries as with all bonuses.
At the end of Gourmet Grand Prix, three bonuses, each worth 40 strawberries, will be rewarded. There are three categories of bonuses, with each category choosing a bonus at random.
- Bonus 1
- Most blueberries bitten!
- Most raspberries munched!
- Most cherries chomped!
- Bonus 2
- Most race strawberries!
- Most five-stack race strawberries!
- Most cookie walls crumbled!
- Most enemies defeated!
- Most minigame strawberries!
- Bonus 3
- Most Copy Food Abilities used!
- Most time spent hovering!
In the Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Strawberries appear as food in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pressing the attack button while near one will eat it, healing 1% of damage. Kirby and King Dedede can additionally consume strawberries by using their Neutral Special, Inhale; Wario can similarly consume them using his Neutral Special, Chomp, and Kirby can use this as well if he copies Wario.
