“ | Balloon-Meister loves to do tricks! No one knows where it learned 'em. Perhaps it's hereditary? Whatever it is, the tricks are fun! Just don't let the ball touch you. Try to inhale it instead to get the Bomb Ability. (Hey, wait! Where did it get that ball?!)” |
— Gotcha Capsule Description • Kirby and the Forgotten Land |
Balloon-Meister is a large enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It gives the Bomb ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance
Balloon-Meister resembles a sea lion, with reddish brown fur and a red nose. It has flippers and visible ears that are small in appearance. On the top of its head, it wears a small green plastic bucket with a white handle as a hat. Its ball is dark green with red eight-pointed stars with yellow outlines on the surface to represent explosions.
Games
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Balloon-Meister first appears in Concrete Isles and appear infrequently throughout the rest of the game, where they can be found either swimming in water (notably including in the freezing waters of Winter Horns, lethal to most other enemies in the game) or standing on land. Regardless of whether it is swimming or standing, it attacks by throwing explosive beach balls towards Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee.
When fighting Fecto Forgo, a Balloon-Meister's head is visible above Leongar's head.
Trivia
- Despite being based on sea lions of some kind, Balloon-Meisters are frequently encountered in areas with no nearby bodies of water. Although real life seal lions unlike Cetaceans don’t need to be constantly in water and wet.
