Hannes is a supporting character in the manga and anime Attack on Titan. He was a Garrison soldier and childhood companion of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, when they were still living in Shiganshina District. He felt great remorse for not having the courage to kill the Titan that eventually ate Eren’s mother, causing him to take great strives to improve himself as a soldier. He continued to act as a supportive character towards the Shiganshina Trio, who looked at Hannes as a figure of the more “peaceful days” they wish to bring back.
