Personality & Character
While initially taking a neutral stance, Yuri resonates with the views of Patrick Zala, that peace for the PLANTs could only be achieved through victory in war. His views deepened after the death of his son Nicol, and he became driven to achieve victory at any cost and became disillusioned with people who he perceived as contrary to his beliefs.

History
Member of the PLANT Supreme Council and father of Nicol Amalfi. He was an engineer and representative of the city of Maius, where MS design bureaus and factories were concentrated. During the First Alliance-PLANT War, he had a moderate stance, although he shared the opinion of Patrick Zala that war was necessary and must end in victory for PLANT, however, Yuri was not a radical, unlike Patrick.
Nicol's death at the hands of Kira Yamato would scar Yuri as he ended up favoring Chairman Zala's radical views. To take the military's next step forward, Yuri helped develop the Neutron Jammer Canceller, allowing ZAFT to produce the highly destructive, nuclear-powered ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam and ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. When the Freedom is stolen, Yuri would help oversee the Justice's security and maintenance when Patrick's son and Nicol's friend, Athrun Zala, arrives to pilot the unit. Although Athrun shares his condolences, Yuri apologizes for the adults dragging the children into war, and berates the Clynes for betraying them as such.[1] He is presumably captured like with other Supreme Council members during Eileen Canaver's coup during the closing hours of the war. His post-war activities are unknown.
In the novelization of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, it is mentioned that Yuri, alongside Ezalia Joule, had helped in the testing for the ZGMF-1027M Duel Blitz Gundam and ZGMF-103HD Lightning Buster Gundam, implying that he was similarly released or acquitted in the same manner as Ezalia.[2]
